Megan Rapinoe has already taken it to Trump.

Huh?
What does anything this team is doing have to do with Trump..?
Did the US women just become football powerhouse?
You reading more into this than is there...quit letting Trump rent space in your head...
In reply to Ayenmol
Well unlike you I did deliver lectures in Sports, Politics and Society for 20 years so whatthehellever.
In case you are unaware Rapinoe was the first non-NFL athlete and first female to kneel with Kaepernick.
Stay in that bubble of ignorance.
In reply to Chrissy
Except this is a team...not the Rapinoes...the US team!
It is made up of many individuals with various backgrounds and beliefs and attitudes.
Quit Politicizing Sports.
Quit degrading a team effort to one person.
Um, uh...well what is the state of Politics, Sports and Society in the Region...?
I'll hang up and take your answer off the phone.

I see the UN womens arm trying their best to sink their credibility by claiming that women footballers should get paid the same as men
In reply to steveo
I believe their argument is based on getting larger crowds at their matches, at least in the US. Dont know if thats true in the international arena!
In reply to StumpCam
It is also true re results - US women have made eight semis from eight world cups.
I saw data earlier this week showing that the women's team has generated more income than the male team.
That said Title IX facilitated the development of female football in the US resulting (decades later) in them being way ahead of mot of the world.
They deserve better pay.
In reply to StumpCam
I am all for that! However, their argument was based on comparison with Lionel Messi!
In reply to Chrissy
I think you know this is a market based thing

Yesterday's match between US and France was played at a dizzying speed and high intensity. Far better entertainment than any of the men's matches I have been watching recently.

In reply to Ewart
I saw the match highlights, the two goals for the US would have been spectacular in another setting, say a kindergarden cup
In reply to Ayenmol
Who are the current FIFA women world cup champions?
dat purple head gal is a nutcase. ok, her belief is her belief but why she influencing the rest of the players not to go to the White House? isn't repping your country and celebrating the success the natural thing to do. she is a bully. I hope the lioness knock dem out so she can go bawl in a corner.
only thing in dis world to fight against is poverty, eradicated dat and racism, homophobia ,equality all tings will fall into place...she need to calm her shorts down.

But you did not see the run of play. They lost but those French girls are something else. They kept the Americans hopping.

In reply to Ewart
France should have handily won that match but...
You must put the ball in the back of the net. All that domination of possession and shots and goal didn't translate to a win.
that 'female' stallion Lucy Bronze gonna slay USA.
I agree Im not a big fan of US sport teams because they do tend to showboat a little too much but its hard not to absolutely love this womens soccer team. Rapinoe is a heroe for young women everywhere that you can represent your country at the highest level and stand up for your beliefs and not back down from any bully
In reply to TyTy35
Precisely
In reply to JahJah
I hear you, loud and clear. And most of the football we have been watching recently has been stricken with [fraid-to-shoot-itis.[/quote]
Nevertheless... it was a very entertaining game.

It's been a while
In reply to Bain
That's the truth
In reply to Bain
No politics here either
In reply to Chrissy
Who's making it political...the organization or a few moronic fans?
This is precisely why many want politics kept out if sports... When the players introduce it, morons take it to the next level...quit using an arena of teamwork to promote individuality.
In reply to Ayenmol
Not fans - deplorable racists, anti-Semitics, pedophiles and scumbags pushing their political agenda
