Lyon to Markram, out Stumped!! Markram looks to be in trouble here. Australia confident about the stumping. Lovely flight and drift from Lyon, invited the drive and then slid it past the outside edge, with Markram unable to prevent his back foot from getting dragged outside the crease. Had to really stretch for the ball, which probably indicates that it dipped on him too. Superb bit of off-spin bowling. Carey polishes off the rest with his neat glovework.

Markram st Carey b Lyon 34(37) [4s-6 6s-1]

Lyon to de Kock, out Caught by Starc!! This is very soft. Very soft from de Kock. He forcefully drags himself off the field. Flighted delivery on the stumps, nicely floated up, de Kock slogs completely across the line and gets a thick outside edge that spoons straight to Starc at backward point. QdK looks up and gulps in disappointment. He can't believe he's thrown away a great chance to make a big score on a good surface.

Behrendorff to du Plessis, 1 run, first century in this World Cup for Faf, and it comes in what could be his last World Cup game. Advances and pushes the drive straight of mid-off, pumps his fists and lets out a loud roar as he trundles to the other end

Faf du Plessis *100 (93

Behrendorff to du Plessis, out Caught by Starc!! Change of pace does the trick for Behrendorff. Keeps it wide of off and asks Faf to fetch it from there

2.1
Tahir to Finch, out Caught by Markram!! Taken! Sharp catch and Tahir did Finch there with his pace. He didn't have the time to really go on the back foot to play this punch, was caught on the crease and the hands took over, so there was no control on the shot. A chipped hit and it went to the right of short cover. Tahir is running across Manchester now. South Africa's intensity too for Australia. If only they were this good at the start of the tournament!

Tahir to Khawaja, 1 run, fires a full toss, Khawaja sweeps it behind square, fielded at deep backward square leg, easy two that, but looks like Khawaja is struggling with his hammie. That's why he didn't take the second run. Khawaja signals for the physio. This isn't looking good

Smith is ready on the balcony and he's coming out. Khawaja is going off. Smith comes in

6.3
Pretorius to Smith, out Lbw!! Given out. Smith consults and he isn't going to review. Australia effectively 33/3 with Khawaja retiring hurt. May not come out to bat. So this was a short of length delivery that nipped back in, Smith usually jumps to the off-side and flicks the ball at will, but he missed this and the ball struck him high on the pad. Impact in line with off and it was good enough for umpire Kumar Dharmasena. Probably would have been umpire's call, worth a review. Oh yes, HawkEye confirms the same as a part of the ball is hitting off stump.

Smith lbw b Pretorius 7(6) [4s-1]

33.4
Chris Morris to Warner, FOUR. A poke. Outside edge. Flew away to the man fence. Doesn't matter how it comes as long as it comes. Third hundred this World Cup for David Warner and his tournament continues to get better and better with each passing game. Looks for a guide down to third man and instead edges it fine past the keeper

33.3
Chris Morris to Warner, FOUR, the rib-tickler from Morris and Warner has neatly helped that away to the fine leg fence with minimum fuss. Just hops on his toes and makes full use of Morris' pace...

Gwn !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Morris take a beauty

39.1
PPretorius to Warner, out Caught by Chris Morris!! Massive moment in the game and Manchester erupts! The crowd is booing as Warner walks back to the pavilion. A length delivery by Pretorius and Warner heaves it to mid-on. The connection was good enough but Morris at mid-on was equally good with his fielding. Flies to his left and plucks it out of thin air. Onus on Carey to take the game deep from here on.

I see Morris making a rather subdued version of a celebration. No salute, just a simple curtsy.

The Brits may like that.

That should be Khawaja's last game.

Not because he got out, but how he got out. redface

Anyone who gets out playing that absurdity, the reverse sweep (any variation), should be canned.

Did I say anyone?

BeatDball 2019-07-06 20:26:59

In reply to Drapsey Those shots are risky & unnecessary. Just play a frontal shot. Fool stop.

confused

Great to finally get some wood over Aus in a WC
At least there have some positives from this world cup for SA;Perennial passenger Duminy has finally decided to fsck off after this game.

so who is replacing jp and immy?

hash is on his way out too

rassie looks in

In reply to doosra

Guys that are going out are

Faf - Might stick around for a year or two and let the team transition to a new captain whoever it is.No real talent in that sort of class available on the horizon. No idea who is gonna take his spot tbh.
Hash - No real talent in that sort of class available on the horizon . I'd probably look at Bavuma as a replacement.
JP - Fills a role no team wants.A batsman who can't bat , and a bowler who cannot bowl. Will probably be replaced by a specialist bat like de Bruyn. Unfortunately Zondo will be in his late 30's if they wanted to replace him with a half decent all rounder.
Imran - Given that the next wc is in India will be very very difficult to replace. Will probably try and replace him with Shamsi.
Morris - 32 years old . Will take a Kolpak and/or focus on T20 leagues.Decent stream of quicks still coming from SA side for time being.
Filler Miller - Same as above . 30 years old now . Probably won't go to the next WC. Unsure who is going to take on that role.

Guy who I worry that might go his own way or pick up a Kolpak is Rabada. How long he'll stick around in a no hope team , when he could be making big bucks elsewhere and perhaps pickup foreign citizenship remains to be seen.Same probably goes for Quinny.
