We were the weakest bowling side on show at the World Cup! In Red Ball Cricket, we can give any side a run for their money! White ball, not so much...

West Indies biggest problem is our BOWLING!
In reply to Mr-Anguilla
Really? That is all? Wow.
In reply to bobby
Biggest is not only.
In reply to Mr-Anguilla
West Indies was the worst fielding team in the world cup
Batting not far from our bowling either
Our attitude, our discipline, our approach, our fitness, the time we spend
improving and refining our game, what motivates the players, our technical competences, executing plans, analysis of opponents, lack of back up plans. Too many to list.
We are lacking in many areas. To single out one area as the most imprtant is silly.
We are 30 years behind the top teams.
Yes, our batting is just fine!
The team lacked consistency, tactical aggression and intensity in all departments. They could start to be a better team by trying to practice the three listed issues.
Batting worse dan bowling. Regarding red ball cricket, in de last year, WI bowling ranked in de top 3.

I wonder how many of our bowlers are thinking bowlers, trying to work out batsmen.I think what you have pointed out is so very true.
In reply to granite
Only one bowler worked batsmen out in the selected WC team and that was Roach, however because the WI regional pitches are poorly prepared, bowlers do not have to learn to work batsmen out, the pitches does it for them.
In reply to dayne
The pitch or the batsmen?
The bowling kept improving after Bangladesh. While the batting got worse.
In reply to Mr-Anguilla
Some may argue that since we batted second 5 times and lost four of those games dat de batting was more at fault dan de bowling.
Our all round cricket was equally poor dats why we are out
Yes!

ICC individual player rankings agree with you
Top four WI batting
13- Shai Hope
26 - Hetmyer
49- Gayle
73- Holder
top four WI bowling
38- Holder
40- Cotterel
50- Roach
65- Nurse
And Roach and now Nurse are not regular or consistent part of the setup
It is our bowling, batting, fielding, lack of situational awareness, captaincy, coaching and lack of talent. To name a few.
In reply to Runs
Nobody disagrees those are all problems.
But i think taking an analytical approach, in terms of setting benchmarks, measurable targets, we cant do much about the lack of talent, so no point lookig at that really, the talent we have is the talent we have.
Objectively, our batsmen have been performing more often than our bowlers.
The next step in that analysis would be...situational awaremess, coaching, captaincy and fielding are the reasons the bowlers are not doing as well.
And of course our batsmen would also move up in the rankings if the coaching and situational awareness improved.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to point out that Mohammed Naveed from the UAE is a higher ranked bowler than Ashley Nurse

Exactly. There is no biggest. Maybe biggest only in the egos of our administrators. We are lacking in every area from administration, planning, pitches, umpiring, coaching and only then batting, running between wickets, fielding, cathching. throwing and bowling. And of course captaining.
Here are the numbers for our 8 completed matches
1. We failed to defend 1 score of over 300
2. We gave up 1 other score of over 300 and lost
3. We restricted 3 of the semi-finalists to less than 300 and lost
4. We restricted 1 team to less than 110 and won
5. We defended 1 score of over 300
6. We failed to score 220 in 1 match and lost
Can we really place de majority of the blame on the bowlers?
In reply to Maispwi
He wants one of his countrymen to be the bowling coach ...
In reply to dayne
Right,Isorta guessed that was the case.

But the Bajan batsmen mek dem bowlers fight.
As Sobers once said, cricket is a game of runs. West Indies' main weakness over many years is the batting.
We have had extended difficulty finding an opening pair like Rae and Stollmeyer or Greenidge and Haynes.
We have not produced middle-order bats in the mould of Weekes, Worrell, Walcott, Butcher, Seymour Nurse, Richardson, Viv and Rowe.
We cannot replace the reliable batsmen we had in Sobers, Lara, Jimmy Adams or Gomes.
We have never - unlike the Australians - produced fast bowlers who can make runs consistently.

It is our bowling, batting, fielding, lack of situational awareness, captaincy, coaching and lack of talent. To name a few.
And strategic planning as well.
In reply to Maispwi
TriniD agrees. It is definitely de batting.
De bowling was actually better dan expected, and gave us chances tuh win.
De batting was worse dan expected.
