World Cup must serve as learning curve Hope
LEEDS, England Stroke-maker Shai Hope says West Indies must use the disappointment of the ICC World Cup as a learning curve if they are to improve in coming years.
Speaking following the Caribbean sides 23-run victory over Afghanistan in their final match of the tournament on Thursday, Hope said he and the sides younger players stood to benefit from the experience despite the failed campaign.
It was definitely a learning experience, something that I will never forget, Hope told media here.
Playing each team in this format, obviously you have to be the better team on the day to progress in the tournament. But having said that its a learning experience, I definitely gained something from it. Hopefully, I and the younger guys can use this and take it forward into their career.
He continued: If you dont improve and learn from this experience, then were not going anywhere, were not learning anything. Im sure were going to use this as basically a platform for the next four years.

Well they'll almost certainly have a WCQ to prepare for in the near future so that's a short term goal

Hope should have just shut up. How can you go to the biggest tournament in the world and say that it is a learning experience. You were supposed to learn before you reached there. wE just learnt how poor the team really is.

If you never played in a WC before it must be a learning experience regardless of how much you prepared no?

It is interesting that after all the cricket these guys have been playing, they were not ready for the WC challenges, they had flat pitches to bat on and they were inconsistent, the bowlers had a difficult time as it is difficult to be a bowler in this era with all the new rules.

Hope entered the World Cup as one of the leading ODI batsman in the world, he made his name in England on a prior tour, we are always learning new things but we should be aware of the things we did before.
