Reifer will be coach for at least the rest of year

Narper 2019-07-07 02:13:40

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Recently-elected Cricket West Indies chief, Ricky Skerritt, has given the assurance that interim head coach, Floyd Reifer, will remain in his post for the remainder of the year, and says there will be no “hasty political decisions” in the wake of the Caribbean side’s disastrous showing at the ICC World Cup
.
Speaking following West Indies’ final outing of the campaign on Thursday in Leeds, Skerritt praised Reifer as a coach with a “winning track record” and also rubbished suggestions that the change in management prior to the World Cup played a role in the team’s poor showing.

“Now people want Floyd Reifer to go and bring somebody else and then somebody else will go – that is not going to happen under my watch.

Reifer is the man

He continued: “Floyd Reifer has a temporary contract that was always going to be up until the end of this calendar year. If he wins the recruitment process, he will then continue; if he loses the recruitment to somebody else, he will continue in some other position for three months until his one year contract expires.

Ferrett cannot make an about turn now because he will look more of an idiot than when he fired a winning team.

and says there will be no “hasty political decisions” in the wake of the Caribbean side’s disastrous showing at the ICC World Cup

So who is calling for political decisions? Shouldn't the business of appointing coaches, selectors and other officials always be based on cricketing decisions?

Was Reifer the coach then?

No, but Pybus was the coach who destroyed many ...

sad

Barry 2019-07-07 05:15:59

The appointment appears to have been made unilaterally by the West Indies Cricket Board president, Dave Cameron – Pybus was not on the original shortlist drawn up by the current director of cricket, Jimmy Adams – and it prompted the former captain Darren Sammy to offer a withering assessment of his credentials on social media.

Wait, ah thought Presidents can't make cricketing decisions . . . . This Adams man-what doe s he wear?

The Leeward Islands president, Enoch Lewis, has now been referred to the board’s ethics committee after speaking out publicly too, having been the one vote against when Cameron ran his decision past the six territories that make up West Indies

Contract up

camos 2019-07-08 11:30:26

didn't Skerritt assured us in his first new conference that Reifer was appointed for the period up to the end of July and both he coach, and the board understood that clearly?

Walco 2019-07-08 15:21:26

My recollection was that Tricky Dick's contract was due to expire at the end of the India series and Reifer's contract would have expired at the end of the India series as well. In fact, there may have been public pronouncements to that effect ...

Two questions. By whom? And under your definition when was the last time that WI cricket was not hijacked?
