Why Gayle and not Chanderpaul?
In reply to Mr-Anguilla
learn from the past. CG deserves it...not because Chanders wasn't feted it means that CG should not be feted.
Lets learn and move on.
In reply to runout
Well hold a fete for him but not a test match
I nominate Lara.
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
Yep - I have to agree and I like Crampy
In reply to Mr-Anguilla
Remember...it was two men who denied Shiv....Lloyd and Simmons
Not CWI or Prez Cameron
In reply to Mr-Anguilla
Bring back Chanderpaul and Lara to play now, let Gayle go till he dead . . . up to 81 at least ...its the way we do it in the Caribbean
In reply to Narper
Chanderpaul can still come back yet. Coaches should have no say, individual records are for us and the people . . . hail, individualism . . . anybody disagree, we go fix them on this board ...
Two words:
Universe Boss!!!!
In reply to Avatar
Universe Boss figures he could clobber India's bowling and make his swansong indelible.
In reply to XFactor
He will make 500 in one day ....
Shiv threatened Lara's highest aggregate..Gayle isn't.
Gayle is a media manipulator and bully..Shuv is quiet..
In reply to Barry
LOL - with the Universe Boss you never know....
7K test runs at an average of over 42 as an opener, non other any better.
In reply to Khaga
Gayle sing many tunes.
In reply to Khaga
Do you even know that Gayle is just 12 runs behind Lara's record for most ODI runs by a WIan?
Shiv had enough chances to overtake Lara's Test record but his poor form towards the end of his career and his conservatism batting with the tail put paid to that. Shiv swapped the chance of the Test Match record for a higher career average. His choice!
In reply to Kurt
Explain that 'enough' chances....
Was it his fault the WI team pulled out of the India tour?
And by the way....was his his fault he is ALWAYS batting with the tail?
Was it his fault he is most times left not out?
Did WI win the two test matches he asked for?
Was a batsman even gently knocking on the door to replace him in the WI team?
Cameron was absolutely right to fire Simmons and Lloyd
In reply to Kurt
ODI? The discussion is about Gayle getting a chance in tests..keep up..

It is not his fault-It is never his fault-It is Gibson and especially Simmons fault. We promise to hate these ones for life- Why should they exist if the record is not broken. This is so wrong and unfair, regurgitating the pain of our collective past. He is entitled to break the record of that Lara thing. When he does, everything will become alright and the world will spin once again. Global warming will stop and Donald Trump will marry the Queen.
Was a batsman even gently knocking on the door to replace him in the WI team?
Cameron was absolutely right to fire Simmons and Lloyd
Addendum. It is also Lloyd's fault.

Lara's rate of losing is way more then..
In reply to Narper
When I was saying, Shiv should bat higher, allyuh was telling me," Shiv has the right to bat, where ever he wish".
This issue has been flogged numerous times, I had to look at the test stats, for comparison.
Shiv had numerous opportunity to be the highest run getter in the region
After Lara retired, Shiv had every opportunity to take charge of the team, by batting higher, and leading from the front, he sat back and batted down the order, I believe that's the reason from him not scoring many more runs, not the eighty odd, but a few hundred more.
In reply to openning
After Lara retired, Shiv put on one of the greatest batting displays of any West Indian batsman in our glorious history. Shiv was the difference between graceful losing and total embarassment.
Whether Shiv was going to regain form or not... I dont know, but for a period of a couple of years after Lara retired, he was simply amazing.
Take your time
you batting to slow when we want it faster
When people winning
they want it fast ...
they want it fast
they want you hit a six
and not block forthwith . .
In reply to Khaga
You saw that in the metric
Did you finish school?
In reply to Baje
I got castigated on this mb, for suggesting Shiv should bat higher.
There is no doubt, that he batted his lights out, That's why he is among the great West Indian cricketers, but he should had scored hundreds of runs more than Lara, he had the opportunity to bat higher.

In reply to Barry
How about clown err.. clone Bravo?
In reply to Khaga
Bravo does not come into the equation ever- tell me how you feel about the above...
In reply to Mr-Anguilla
I have had that same thought as to why Gayle and not Chanderpaul? Almost any day of the week I would prefer Chander batting for WI and not Gayle.
In reply to openning
As I have pointed out to you many times in the past....Shiv may have scored a few more runs....but he would still be batting with the tail based on the records of the top batsmen in the team...which one of the top batsman would have stayed with him....obviously he couldn't bat at both ends
BTW.....I am in favour of giving Gayle a test match or two
Fitness is the only issue....but if says he can do it...I will give him the benefit of the doubt
In reply to Mr-Anguilla
Simple.
The current WICB President, Shallow Skirrett, does not interfere with team selection like his predecessor, the Big IDIOT, did.
