Angel Gabriel would have been a good javelin thrower.

lol lol lol

He does nothing with the ball? Is it too late for him to change sports?

Btw, CWI should be looking to cut its losses with him.

Decent Test bowler. Nay. Good Test bowler.

I think they realize by now selecting him for ODI cricket was a mistake. Gabriel can play test cricket in this shit side. He has improved enough

Compared to whom?

See his test stats for the last three years:

His good strike rates mostly in home matches (West Indies) suggest that he has not learnt to bowl in less than favourable conditions. Adequate skill levels are ineeded.

Sangfroid 2019-07-11 13:10:52

I have never seen someone so negative about players the way you are. What do you get from it?

Sure, but Gabriel's Test stats are still better than those of the other current WI bowlers.

Sangfroid 2019-07-11 13:12:57

In reply to Norm

My point, exactly.

PK, folks, he test stats ares marginally better than other West Indian bowlers so he is a top class West Indian bowler. Other West Indian bowlers are the international yardstick.

I yield...argument done.

lol lol lol

Adequate bowling skills needed alright, but that applies to the other current WI Test bowlers. Roach alone have those skills, but he breaks down more often than Gabriel.

I have yielded, mate. No need for further argument.

Yield? Just like that? This early in the morning? You pulling an India on us, or what?

We expect some fight, man! smile

Yep. Gabriel is our top class test bowler. Nothing further to argue.

Absolutely nothing to spin. West Indies bowlers are the international yardstick and you guys have anchored your arguments without blemish.

lol lol lol

OK, OK.

Please elaborate on Gabriel's javelin throwing skills then. smile

In reply to Norm

It's takes a powerful shoulder to throw the javelin and huge leg muscles. Who cares where the javelin lands as long as it has the distance. Gabriel's action is better suited to hurling the javelin.

Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

Gabriel is the #14th ranked Test bowler in the world. Who else in the West Indies team has a top 15 ranking. Lot of people have to go before Gabriel

Norm 2019-07-11 13:44:19

smile

Not to mention, Gabriel would probably throw it even further if some guy in the crowd smiled at him. smile

If you were a selector would you have Gabriel in a WC ODI squad or in an overseas test squad?

Norm 2019-07-11 13:56:33

In reply to Courtesy

No, definitely not in any WI ODI squad.

OTOH, omitting Roach when available during WC matches was even crazier. Our bowling think tank needs plenty of work.

Have you noticed that the pace bowlers who excel at ODI are also good at test cricket? Why isn't Gabriel in that same mold?

Norm 2019-07-11 14:08:53

In reply to Courtesy

Hard to say. In fairness, he lacks ODI experience. He seems to be a slow starter in general, as we saw in his Test career.

Courtesy 2019-07-11 14:18:36

In reply to Norm

Ok to end the argument. The problem with most of our new pace bowlers is the lack of consistency in line and length even after 20 test matches. And this is why most of them are useless in international cricket. They get murdered by international batsmen.

imusic 2019-07-11 14:29:51

In reply to Courtesy

You have an unorthodox interpretation of “yield”

In reply to imusic
Not unorthodox...

Yield: give way to arguments, demands, or pressure.

TheTrail 2019-07-11 15:08:58

Just for the fun of it...

Roach:
Matches.....WKS.....Ave......S/R.....Econ

53.......184.......27.17......51.29.......3.18

Yes, because CWI can choose from an international pool of players rolleyes

You need to give it a rest.
