Westbrook to Houston
In reply to methodic
They should have gotten Paul George...according to one cc.com expert basketball purveyor that is all you need to be competitive.
More competitive than the top Eastern Conference winner.

I think they can be a dangerous pair. Especially if the coach is smart.

Houston has no ambition.

think about it this way; any one of these guys can take you to the playoffs by themselves, so how far can they go together.

Houston's desperate and making a last gasp effort to put together a championship team with Harden.
Guess you can't blame them as the have so much $ invested in Harden (and to a lesser extent, Capela). But they're now pretty much doomed in a couple seasons.
Can this pairing work, both guys are ball hogs, and we saw how the offense stagnated at times?
As for OKC, this makes sense. They should have a truckload of draft picks to work with, and depending on if they feel Paul is the best option to mentor whatever young talent they can accumulate (I think it is although Paul's been gimpy the last few years), they're in position to really build back up by 2021. They may decide to try and move Paul as well for future draft capital, mind you.

All those picks would be great in the NFL, where good and even great players can be found anywhere ip and down the draft....
In the NBA unless you are drafting in the top 3, you are not getting franchise guys. And past 10 it is all very iffy...
Add to that the fact that they sent these guys to teams that are going to be in the playoffs for years to come where they may not even sniff the lottery, and OKC may not get more than one or two good players...
Well suddenly a Californian team is not assured to go to the NBA finals, Houston have all the players to make it there, however Harden numbers will decrease as Westbrook likes to fill up the stat sheet

people forget that this team is very competitive and pushecd GSW twice

Fewer turnovers from Harden
The other plus for Houston besides age is Westbrook is more durable than Paul.
If you're Denver, Utah, Portland, do you look to bulk up in response or 'trust the process'? I imagine Utah is content as is Denver. Portland's in an interesting situation.
Everybody mortgaging their future to win now. All these trades look good on paper but I'm waiting to see which squad doesnt look so great when the real games start
