Brilliant shot by Stokes.

We used to joke about that happening as kids in Village cricket...
I never saw it before in a World Class Match

Lucky its not Windies, or we would cuss them to no end!! Yes I said we!!
Surprised New Zealand did not make something bigger of that obstruction.
Why have a law that is not used.
Well congrats to England, finally they won, but at the next rules meeting that Law should be change, the batting team should not benefits from that situation, a dead ball should be the outcome from that occurrence.

Agree... We would still be cussing!! But.....rules are rules!!!

Why the hell a dead ball wasn't called is beyond my thinking.
In reply to granite
boy so the rules dey
It was never a dead ball... The fielder was attempting to run out Stokes, the ball deflected off the batsman and went to the boundary and the additional runs does count. It is not the first time that has happened in a game of cricket.
Get over it people and accept England won and are WORLD CHAMPIONS!
Live with it!

Taufel says, 5 runs should have been awarded and not 6.
And he is right.
