No West In­di­an play­ers have made the grade for se­lec­tion on the In­ter­na­tion­al Crick­et Coun­cil's World Cup team.

The ICC named its best team on Mon­day with New Zealand cap­tain and Play­er of the Tour­na­ment Kane Williamson named the cap­tain, along­side six play­ers who fea­tured in Sun­day’s dra­mat­ic fi­nal be­tween Eng­land and the Ki­wis at Lord’s, Lon­don.

New­ly-crowned world cham­pi­ons Eng­land got four se­lec­tions in the XI while run­ners-up New Zealand have two in the team. The oth­er play­ers came from los­ing se­mi-fi­nal­ists In­dia and Aus­tralia, who had two each, while Bangladesh’s Shak­ib Al Hasan round­ed out the team.

The side was se­lect­ed by for­mer play­ers and now com­men­ta­tors Ian Bish­op, Ian Smith and Isa Guha, crick­et writer Lawrence Booth and ICC gen­er­al man­ag­er crick­et Ge­off Al­lardice.
