Cornwall for Chase or Bravo ?

TheTrail 2019-08-21 01:45:58

What say you?

One person on Mason says Paul and Chase should sit this test out.

According to Coach Reifer, Paul is not fully fit. Cummins is staying over in Antigua to cover.

Barry 2019-08-21 01:57:03

lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol

Discourse 2019-08-21 02:40:07

Is coach Reifer fully fit to continue filling in???

dayne 2019-08-21 02:41:50

In reply to TheTrail

Well it is going to be either Brooks, Campbell, Paul or Bravo who are going to sit, Chase is a senior player in the team, he is a sure pick he is probably as good a bowler as the top spinners in the WI.

jen 2019-08-21 03:47:40

In reply to TheTrail

Chase has been better of late in tests than all of our batsman and should be the last to sit out.

Bravo historically is our best test batsman but is hardly in any sort of form. Shai's test form has been poor since the twin tons.

Kraigg & Campbell plays by default as they are the 2 openers in the squad.

The pitch also will have a bearing on the final squad. The last 2 test matches that was played in Antigua has been very fast bowling friendly!

freij 2019-08-21 04:37:48

depends on the pitch. if it favours seems then surely the team will be:
braithwait
Campbell
hope
bravo
hetmyer
chase
dowrich
holder
paul
roach
Gabriel

if it takes turn then cornwall for paul

Do you realize that each captain has to declare his playing X1before the toss?

i would play Cornwallis for both Chase and Bravo

Barry 2019-08-21 11:45:16

Hell, Cornwall for the entire team big grin

quarkoo 2019-08-21 12:20:34

Base on current form Cornwall should play. Chase did not do well with the bat in the A-team unofficial test matches, while Cornwall had 2 back to back half century and pick up a few wickets

LBW375 2019-08-21 12:21:58

In reply to freij

My XI also.

Batting a little suspect with Bravo not in form and sick head Hetmyer. Hope they both settle down

Casper 2019-08-21 12:41:14

In reply to freij

Bravo should warm that bench. This guy has become Test cricket pressure shy.

Cornwall is likely to make as much runs, or more, as Bravo in this Test, if the latter plays. - in the humble opinion of Casper.

Barry 2019-08-21 12:45:47

In reply to Casper

Cornwall will destroy the bench if he sat on it? big grin

On one thread this:

What distinguishes Jofra from the others is his attitude. He has this perpetual look of someone thoroughly enjoying themselves, doing what they do, and how they do it. He doesn't disrespect the opposition. He doesn't blame his mates. He doesn't show anger and frustration. When things go wrong, he smiles. When things go right, he smiles. Keep smiling Jofra...the world smiles right back at you. He is simply in his zone. This is a true lesson for everyone: this is how you live and play.

For those who called him names, those who think of him as a traitor or otherwise. You have wasted invaluable time and effort heaping scorn on Jofra. He doesn't deserve any of that.

Jofra is a lesson in life!

The same Chase who scored a century and get 8 wickets to secure a victory in another match in the last series against England.

So wait, his trail match score dictate his performance level. Chase is one of the few that I would write his name in for a test team. Other formats I might question but test I do not. Test match cricket is not the same as a trial match where you might be working on something.

mkcharles 2019-08-21 16:21:02

You gentlemen do know that Chase has a better FC and Test BATTING record than both Hope and Hetmyer and is perhaps our best player of spin bowling? His last Test innings was 102 Not Out in February so who gives a hoot about him playing in a WI A Team.

Isn't this guy sexy enough or something that he is always first to get called out. Is it because he is a slow bowler who some feel has prevented the likes of Cornwall from playing? HE IS A BATSMAN THAT HAS BEEN CALLED TO BOWL BEACUSE OF THE LIMITATIONS OF OUR BOWLING AT TIMES DUE TO THE TYPE OF WICKETS THAT HAVE BEEN PREPARED.

What nonsense!!!

This is the same nonsense WHY WE WOULD MISS A JOFFRA ARCHER CAUSE WE ALL TOO BUSY PUSHING AGENDAS.

If you play Cornwall then it's one of the bowlers probably Paul though you could reasonably pick all of them, or one of the batsmen and then it can really be any of Hope, Hetmyer, Brooks or even Kraig Brathwaite or Bravo.

Just get off Chase's back geez!!!

Andy99 2019-08-21 16:25:31

Brooks and Paul sits, simple.

Campbell
Paint
Hope
Bravo
Hety
Chase
Dow
Holder
Cornwall
Roach
Gabriel

And I think the selectors missed an opportunity here to continue to trust and try to build Pooran, I would've had him in there ahead of Bravo.

Dukes 2019-08-21 16:36:40

Ask Mason and Guest - doh shoot de messenger.

Collin James: Antiguans will wait until the eleven is picked to decide if they will attend the game.

In other words, no Cornwall, we nuh show up.

Collin James: Cornwall should replace Bravo.

I say Bravo and Chase stays, period.

Will be interesting to see how Team-India capitalizes with Cornwall in the field. Virat and company runs really well, so they may see opportunities for runs. The flip side is there can be runouts.

Cornwall will surprise you guys in the field. Cornwall is a good all round fielder. he is just not a sprinter

TheTrail 2019-08-21 19:10:11

If Cornwall gets a chance to bat, they will target him, and his partner for run-outs.

The reason:

For what I saw in the A-team, Cornwall will not run a quick single or Twos, no matter how much his partner calls for it. This guy will eat up the strike and a lot of dot balls.

His running between the wickets leaves a lot to be desired.
India players will capitalize on everything he does on the field.

quarkoo 2019-08-21 19:16:42

In reply to TheTrail

That is exactly why he doesn't try to turn ones into twos. He knows they will target him. He knows his limitations very well. By the way, have you ever heard or seen Cornwall get run out?

Toney 2019-08-21 19:17:04

Well it is going to be either Brooks, Campbell, Paul or Bravo who are going to sit,

TheTrail 2019-08-21 19:32:08

Brooksie will have to wait out this Test. The incumbent Bravo plays ahead of him. If they want to remove Bravo, Brooks should take his place, not Cornwall.

Reifer said yesterday Keemo Paul is not fit and Cummins is staying over as cover.
The problem is, if Jason and Reifer think the pitch will take seam, Cummins will fill Keemo's position, sad for Keemo at this juncture.

My team if the pitch looks like it is good for seam bowling:

1. Campbell
2. Brathwaite
3. Hope
4. Bravo
5. Hetmeyer
6. Chase
7. Dowrich
8. Holder
9. Roach
10.Cummins
11.Gabriel

Pooran in the team makes so much sense.

WHY these selectors take so long to react to the obvious?

Not a fan of Cummins at all. Wish they had added C. Holder instead. Keemo and Holder getting some experience is better for the long haul. Pooran or Cornwall for Bravo in the near future.

True story.

Had a big-boned fella batting, and he was attempting a run. So I ran in and collected the ball, and shadow a throw at the stumps, so he had to hurry in. I guess theis annoyed him. So then he cautioned me, "if you hit me with the throw, I will hit you down." So I responded to him, "if I want to hit you I couldn't miss." lol lol lol

I am no Cummins fan either.
Chemar has the drive... Harding has the pace.

Lets see Cummins stats;

13 tests
Avg 37.59
Home Avg 27.27
vs India 21.00 (3 matches)

The stats support bringing another sub 30 home avg pacer to JOIN

Roach
Avg 27.17
Home Avg 22.12
vs Ind 53.00 ( only one match)

Gabriel
avg 29.83
Home avg 22.59
vs Ind Ave 50.60 (3 matches)

Holder.
avg 27.69
HOME Avg 22.49
vs Ind Avg 52.00 (5 matches)

Cummins avg against India also supports his pick.

Maybe the others averages against Ind has the selectors worried and going for Cummins?

analyst-kid 2019-08-22 00:29:13

The stats proclaim Miguel Cummins is WI best bowler vs India with Holder avg 14.60 the best in India!
