Has Donnie self destructed or survived?

Is Trump done?. His actual supporters are still just a loud minority and the voters who held their noses to cast ballots for him and provide the razor-thin margin for his 2016 victory in a few States have grown exhausted by the President's constant lies and scandals. Why are so many of Trump's "mistakes" either illegal or UnConstitutional? Given his history and his personality, it would appear he intends to do much of what he does. They are not "accidents". Many Americans view of the world is this: Here's Trump--admitted adulterer, groper, cheat, multiple bankrupt, failure at every venture he's tried, bailed out by dad's money, rich brat hidden from service in Viet Nam who can't even remember which foot had "bone spurs" while he played high school sports, compulsive liar and braggart. And none of that bothers his "fans" who hope he will hurt "the people who should be hurt". But honorable Joe Biden will fail in his electoral bid because Donnie suggests that there was something unethical going on in Ukraine, which is completely unsupported by any facts.
Of course the Senate is unlikely to convict him , the Senate has never convicted anybody in an impeachment inquiry. That's not the point Donnie won't resign. He's incapable of owning up to a mistake. Every elected official in congress is going to have to stand up and declare whether they agree that it's wrong for an American President to extort aid in his political campaign from a foreign power. Every single one of those officials will then need to justify their actions to their electorate, and how they answer will become a part of their political record. Moreover, even a partial impeachment in the house will serve to effectively end the president's legislative capability for the last thirteen months he is in office. I say last, because regardless of whether the senate impeaches him or not, the whistleblower complaint makes it clear that Donald Trump has been engaged in impeachable offences against the American people for months. On the other hand, there is Trump, and corruption seems to be his middle name. He has spent so many years being the Poster Boy of Corruption that he lost sight of the truth decades ago. If there is corruption, shady dealings, lies and deceit, one needs to look no further than at him and his family, excluding Tiffany and Barron.
Trump will be impeached in the house, his acts will become public record, and though Voters fervently hope for more, that's enough for most Americans. If McConnell refuses to hold a trial, Trump's illegal conduct will be litigated instead during the campaign. His pattern of seeking and benefiting from foreign governments' interference in our elections is the story that will simply be repeated over and over again. If he does hold a trial, the public will hear the evidence and come to the inescapable conclusion that Trump is guilty of various malfeasances. The Senate then refusing to impartially weigh the evidence in order to "acquit" him, will anger the electorate and may doom Trump's reelection chances.
Trump brought this on himself. From the first day, he has engaged in a pattern of lies and self-dealing. He refused to accept the responsibility of the office to govern for the benefit of the nation as a whole, instead choosing to simply pay back the special interests that supported him. His policies have not led to any significant growth in the economy. Much of his Administrative agenda has failed in the courts due to non-compliance with the APA. "Stick it to the Libs" is the kind of divisive campaign message that makes the zealots and authoritarians happy, but it pushes away the "huge majority" of average voters. At this moment, it looks less and less likely that Trump will be on the 2020 ballot. Dont forget that Trump is also enmeshed in money laundering to enable cash payoffs to, among others, Stormy Daniels, whose testimony will be a highlight of this impeachment. Other names that we can expect to see popping up are Trumps former business partner and co-lecher Jeffrey Epstein; the IRS and Deutsche Bank, which will finally be forced to uncloak Trumps complete tax returns and the names of the Russian oligarchs who co-signed for Trumps loans, respectively. And thats just the tip of Trumps quickly-melting iceberg.
American Republican citizens have shown the world that it is party over honesty, dignity and overall human values so they are a lost cause. But there are enough citizens who still have an intact sense of right and wrong and are sufficiently disgusted by Trump and Republicans as to kick him and his enablers and accomplices out. Trump is not making mistakes. Trump is attacking all of the Constitution as often as possible, on purpose. There hasn't been a single one (except a guy with a conscious who left the party) with the guts to call him out: Not for daily lies; not for vilifying the press; not for hobnobbing with dictators; not for paying bribe money to a porn star; not for insulting war heroes. The entire Republican party is a gaggle of weak-kneed political hacks with no interest whatsoever in working for the benefit of the American people. History will not be kind. The man acts like a man that grew up in an alcoholic household, needing, or should I say, craving chaos. My guess is that his bankruptcies are more a need for chaos than just being a rotten business person. The fact that he lives to tweet chaos should tell you that at some point he was going to achieve his inner desire for self destruction and he has hit that point a number of times. This is the one that tipped it though. What we cannot let happen is to let Trump's desire to destroy himself destroy the country. The man is one piece of work and the sooner he is gone, the better.
Progressives will be profoundly disappointed with how this plays out. Trump won't resign, the Senate will refuse to convict him, his supporters will never abandon him. The Democrats can rage & shout about Ukraine until there's ice on the equator. It won't change the mind of one person who voted for Trump. The more you complain the more he will rub it in your face. Isn't that obvious at this point? Trump wants to be impeached. Trump is at his best (in his mind) when he's fighting back & slinging mud. Impeachment hearings driven by fanatics will over-reach. It will be easily spun by Trump as a witch hunt to fair-minded voters. When impeachment fails in the Senate, Trump will again claim victory! Trump believes this debacle will facilitate his winning a 2nd term. The excessive amount of attention to this can backfire, with Trump being reelected & it not being the result of Russian interference. What impeachment inquiry will do is drive Biden out of the race which is what Trump wanted all along. Whether he wants to or not Biden will have to answer a lot of questions on this issue in the comings months. There's no evidence that he did anything wrong. But Biden still will have to explain this.
The Donald knows that there was no coup to undermine him. What there was from the get go was his abominable behavior that shocked the heck out of everyone. From the beginning he denied Russia's interference. He assigned White House duties to his family who were without any experience (remember how thrilled Republicans were when Hillary helped Bill with health care - their excuse for doing nothing other than blocking it). Then his extra marital affairs started crawling out from under the rocks along with the steps he took to cover them up. Then there was Mike Flynn, then Manafort, then Cohen. With Trump the circus goes on and on. As does the dishonest behavior. He said we would see his tax returns, this week he is seeking a judges help to block New York State from getting them. In 3 years he has only been destructive. Nothing for the people, only his friends.
Can this impeachment process facilitate Trumps 2020 win but this process may be about something bigger than winning. Do Americans not care about their beloved constitution, the rule of law and a healthy democracy? Watching the degradation of democracy by an autocratic self centred amoral demagogue, Ive been wondering when other branches of government would stand up for their country. Now is the time regardless of the electoral outcome.
Then again I may have read too much Democratic propaganda. The President makes mistakes like everyone and the Democratic propaganda machine has become hysterically anti-Trump. It will not be the end of the US. What Americans are witnessing is democracy in action. They just dont like the results.
What a sad state of affairs for all Americans. The President and his boys have repeatedly disrespected the Constitutional balance of power and, more specifically, have shredded the concept of respectful disagreement Americans had in their politics. If impeachment proceeds, Mr. Trump will suck all the oxygen out of the upcoming presidential race. He is already doing this. If Congress does not impeach, his style of government wins. He lies and distorts the truth with impunity, and he is likely to become more bold if he wins this round.
As much as Americans would like all the transgressions of this administration to be waived in the clean air for all to see, Americans think their democracy only wins if they win at the ballot box. Of all the things that they find troubling, what most disturbs them is that it is a political risk to attempt to impeach a president who has overtly shown himself as a chronically lying, ignorant, bullying, narcissistic, serial sex-offender.
If Americans, in general, feel such efforts are either wrong or counter-productive, then they deserve Trump; and they deserve the disdain of all decent people around the world. God bless America is hollow. God forgive America.

Doctor Dukes will soon learn the futility of his effort and the good doctor is a quick learner, this is a case where not even the symptoms can be treated .
On the other hand the good doctor is clearly very proficient at pinning the tail on the donkey..

Notice the clowns come out, if they read such they may be better educated. If someone else wrote such they would have googled and found it .
Most of such threads are written before I go to bed , it relaxes me.
