GAW players regressing because of too much T20

So early in their careers:

1.) Keemo Paul - batting and bowling
2.) Shimron Hetmeyer - batting and “hunger”

Players ready for ALL formats:

1.) Chanderpaul Hemraj- needs to keep fit
2.) Romario Shepherd- needs to keep improving his batting. Needs to keep working on his run up .

But shouldn’t they be at least better in T20 than they are currently ??

Stop looking for options to blame. Blame the players who either have no brain or are not prepared to put in the hard work or both.

Weird.

As far as I know, there is only 1 sports team with the Amazon warriors sobriquet....the GAW that play in the CPL. The other Guyana based “franchises” in the other formats of the game, 4 day and 50 over, are known as the Jaguars

So the premise of this thread is that players in the T20 team known as the GAW are regressing because they play too much T20 cricket.

WTF?? confused shock

You’re right. Let me try again: I opine that Keemo Paul and Shimron Hetmeyer need to refine their games more in the longer version. Both are skilled, but Hetmeyer is clearly too immature at this juncture for the blitz cricket. Paul needs some strengthening for his bowling and the opportunity to concentrate on batting for a longer period.

How has “refining one’s game in the longer version” worked out for West Indian cricketers post th Lloyd/Viv era when WI players were playing regularly in English County cricket?

Has Brandon King refined his skills in the longer format?

Haydn Walsh Jr?

Lendl Simmons?

Johnson Charles?

Nicholas Pooran?

Sunil Narine?

Music, each of those guys you’ve listed besides King and Walsh Jr, have been around a bit and paid some dues. On a side note, Pooran in MY view displayed more quality and potential than Hetmeyer even at youth level. Even so, Pooran has had to contend with Ramdin and others for a place in the FC setup.

Hopefully King and Walsh Jr fare well when/if picked for international competition

A stupid post devoid of facts and numbers - smh
Kemo a Paul has the second best rpo bowling in the last 4 overs !
He’s proven to be an excellent fielder
He’s played two good knocks when he was required

Hetty is going through a bad patch , not dissimilar to bravo etc

This is the problem with some of you: YOU FAIL TO SEE THE BIG PICTURE BECAUSE OF YOUR MYOPIC WAY OF THINKING.

Keemo Paul IN MY VIEW is one of the top three swing bowlers in the WI. The man was CONSISTENT going through the rounds at both FC and international levels, until he ran into a brick wall in India. IN MY VIEW, the guy has not looked quite the same since then. I OPINE, that blitz cricket with guys throwing their bats at everything is not the way to get Keemo Therapy back. He needs strengthening to prevent injuries and a long workout on the park. It has absolutely nothing to do with his talent.

Comparing Darren Bravo’s ‘bad patch’ to that of Shimron Hetmeyer as similar, is simply poor analysis. As I stated earlier, MYOPIC. Carry on...

I like blooding rookies in the shorter version. Ala Ozland during their golden era.

What’s good for the goose may not be good for the gander. Here’s my point: Most of our ‘rookie’ batsmen have been rightly criticized over the years, for being mentally incapable of building an inning. This applies to BOTH the longer and shorter versions of the game.

IMUSIC asked the question:

How has “refining one’s game in the longer version” worked out for West Indian cricketers post th Lloyd/Viv era when WI players were playing regularly in English County cricket?”

My answer:

Let’s examine our most prolific 20/20 player - Christopher Henry Gayle.
