The NBA's faltering

Tryangle 2019-10-15 18:37:12

Yeah the NBA (and especially LeBron) is not coming out of this whole mess well, one bit.

How did LeBron turn into Laura Ingraham?

How can someone who strenuously objected to shut up and dribble take a stance like his now? Is it a case of when it eh happening to people like you it doh matter?

He's going to get lambasted. They'll have good reason to suggest that LeBron is only for standing up for what you believe in if it doesn't cost you $$.

I see this as a big own-goal for the NBA as a whole here when it comes to social justice initiatives, etc.

It's going to be so easy for those on the political 'right' to mock them as bowing to China while protesting the US.

what should he be speaking up about really?

Lebron is correct. Very few people in the west really understand the real issues at hand. This is not a simple issue of people wanting democracy.

Secondly, it is stupid to consider as the same thing, Lebron’s need to comment on social issues in the US, with a need to comment on issues relating China.

Guess you all finally woke?

He pretty much called the man ignorant because he bucked the trend, money be damned.

But then this is the same League who crucified the NFL on mitigating a highly controversial protest while having an agreement in place that prevents THEM from such protest.

Hypocrites and convenient rabble rouserss.

Protestors in Hong Kong predictably aren't happy with LeBron

He eh care...More people on mainland China.

Dollars and plantation owner sense....show me the money...human rights be damned.

Consider this.....

Much of the emotional attachment of Black folks to the Nba is mostly racial.

But it's based on a fallacy.

People think that because the big stars in basketball are Black and make big money as opposed to the Nfl where the qb makes the most money and are majority Caucasian, then you root for the NBA because it advances the Race and shifts power.

But really, how many Players benefit?

NBA players makes about 5 million each based on cap vs player while the NFL makes 2 mil on average.

Seems alot.

However, on closer examinstion the numbers dont tell the whole story.

Take the Warriors.
Steph is making 40 mil this year.
Klay 32.
Russell 27.
Green 18.

The other 11 players make a combined 23 or so mil...just over 2 mil per.

Now take a look at the Saints....

At least 11 players make more than 10 mil...and even more makes well over the NBA average!

The Nfl makes more millionaires and their top players make as much as the NBA!

Quite frankly...there are as many Black players making ridiculous money on NFL teams as NBA even with all the White QB traditionally.

Did LeBron in his correctness walk his comment back?

Ayenmol 2019-10-16 00:11:49

Consider this...

Nba salary cap increased less than 2 mil from 2017-18. But almost 8 mil this year...no doubt from the Chinese connection...which is why they scared to lose that money....

Why? They know that their individual income for stars are what gives them the only edge they have in the marketplace...plus the guaranteed contracts.

But even that is falling.

Plus about a quarter of NBA players are from abroad...so they can no longer attract Blsck talent based simply off greater earning and power....while the NFL is shifting with more Black qb's and endorsement plus guaranteed contracts plus much larger work force.

No wonder they are selling their souls.

Lebron James is one of the most brilliant young minds around. They are not going to tie him up. He was right and knew exactly what he was saying.

Lol...funny when it's ths people of a different Race who display this attitude the word brilliant is not the word i hear around here.

Like i say...all the talk of racism is just Envy....if the shoe were on the other foot, you all would be as complicit as those you all love villify.

Imagine if this was Africans that were in sweat shops while White folks profited while keeping the ststus quo...brilliant?

LeBron stance on China has weakened his voice, and that will include other issues in the future.

He has exposed ignorance on Chinese Communism to protect his bank account and comes across as a corporate puppet.
