3 mighty fine comedians
i have not listened to chappelle and pyror as much as i have carlin
but if they are better than carlin then they must be mighty mighty good
carlin for me because he seems a bit more contemporary to me and i can relate a bit more
In reply to doosra
Carlin is very good, not sure how long he has been doing comedy but Pryor's comedy has influenced many comedians, today.
In reply to black
a mighty long time

see dem here together
Fuggg , I'm a comedy nerd so Pryor for me.
George Carlin vs Richard Pryor. Epic Rap Battles of History
Hard to judge Dave at this time because these guys go through different phases throughout their careers , but I'm a huge huge fan.
Sticks and Stones was a 10/10 .

My personal choice would be Pryor but all three are very good.
I can appreciate all three..but i love Chappelles work. His new special i need to check out.
In reply to black
The three best of all time.
In reply to Chrissy
I know you are a big Chappelle fan.
In reply to maj
His new special was disappointing. Sticks and Stones I assume you mean.

I like chappelle but carlin is just outstanding...very thought provoking
Pryor, Eddie Murphy, then the others...
In reply to Larr Pullo
I'm not a big fan of Eddie Murphy's comedy.
I like his movies though.
After careful consideration this is the winner hands down!
Give me Carlin.
Pryor 1st, 2nd, & 3rd
Then others

i am with you. carlin it is for me. he has a way with words. there is nothing better that the deployment of a language in a comedic way
Pryor all the way
In reply to bravos
You think Ayenmol is a Carlin fan?
In reply to black
He's thinks he died as punishment...lol..
Like Hitchens...lol..
Chris "fucking" Rock!
In reply to black
Carlin and Pryor too
In reply to black
His delivery social awareness and logic are unmatched..
Only Chappelle comes close..
In reply to bravos
yep...i think that is what i appreciate a whole lot...how he can put so many social issues in the context he works
I loved the Chappelle Show. To this day I watch reruns on Comedy Central. That sketch about a race draft where Condoleezza Rice was given away by the blacks is really funny.
In reply to doosra
good stand up guys tend to be very good social commentators.
In reply to nick2020
Yes that one..I saw some clips and it seemed funny.
Why would you say it was a dud?
Carlin, Pryor different styles. Like comparing Jordan to Rodman. Or Lebron to Curry
Carlin is my go to for truth.
Pryor is in your face reality. His faults and all.
Influence: Pryor over Carlin
Gut busting: Pryor
Wit, intellect: this is a tie
Comedic control, delivery: Carlin
But seriously, they are both on the same pantheon.
Murphy was a "more polished" Pryor, but he and Chappelle have to sit and stare at Carlin/Pryor.
"So long fried rice, hello fried chicken" Tiger Woods.

I was going to say they're all a bit different and all great..kinda like Lara,Tendulkar Shiv Viv etc..
No one can tell a Momma story like Eddie Murphy,no one can tell a race story like Chappelle..
I was a bit too young to take in Pryor at the time..
In reply to doosra
Yeah he was ruthless with it !!
In reply to black
Great question ... Cant argue within anyone with their choice
All Three men were/are FREE as they did/do not give a fcuk what others thought of them
In reply to camos
He is a funny guy but I don't think he can match the genius of the three I listed.
In reply to pelon
I totally agree with you
It is also impossible to avoid cultural bias in comedy...for me I must see Russel Peter's..cause his jokes resonate with me..
I wouldn't call him the best..however we judge that is personal choice..
Carlin's social commentaries are mind blowing...
List of people who should die...OMG...just brilliant..
In reply to pelon
Without question, Richard Pryor was more influential. I bet if you asked most of the comedians today, they would say Richard Pryor was the comedian they idolized.

I am a staunch Carlin fan and that routine about taking stuff on Hawaii vacation, well thats so me, but Prior has the edge Chappelle well he is great, but my vote is still for Prior
In reply to doosra
I used to like Eddie Murphy but as my knowledge and appreciation for comedy increased, I realize that he was ok but not great.
In reply to black
Murphy was great. Seriously funny and polished as a standup comic. Top 5 possibly too.
No reason to not see him as great.
In the 80s he took funny to new levels, and in the same way Pryor inspired him, Murphy inspired countless comics.
