The founding fathers were correct in their thought but somehow the script is now flipped perhaps by thieving gerrymandering Republicans and voter suppression. They created the electoral college cuz they did not trust dumb, retarded, illiterate rural white folks with electing someone to the highest office in the land. Now the way to the presidency is through those same dumb, illiterate folks and no wonder the president so closely reflects them.
