First test, South Africa won it.

And it was all because of coach Gibson's absence.

South Africa is now behind in the series and the Otis Gibson haters have since remained quiet.

Facking dishonest hypocrites.

lol lol I cannot remember the last time SA suffered an innings defeat at home.

Seems like all teams get worse after Ottis departs. Look what happened to our beloved West Indies. Our rankings have fallen in every format since Ottis left and now we have a traffic cop captain and a set of people jumping and waving because we tied a series with Ireland.

Was that our first lost ever to Ireland the other day? Let me check smile

Courtesy 2020-01-20 21:23:00

In reply to Walco

I bet if Ottis was around SA would not suffer such humiliation.

Wha you came up with?

I know there was an overall record set for most runs in the power play overs in an ODI.

In cricket, its a game of uncertainty, such happens?

Look at what Australia did to India two opening bats won the game. The next game India came back.

CWI has new administrators, Coaches captain, and some players.
They are at the bottom of the barrel. Inconsistencies will occur, as murphy's law dictates.

One must beat minnows when we are minnows.

Let time dictate our progress and not haste

SA defeated both India and SA at home in Tests during Gibson's tenure. During this series they have lost to an England team at less than full strength. The last defeat was to and England team without Anderson and Archer.

It appears that we have played Ireland a total of 12 times between 2007 and 2020. We won 10, lost 1 and there was one rain-out cool We are celebrating a tied series during which we lost to Ireland for the first time ever ...

Spin all you want Sarge. We are doing things differently under Polly, but the results have not improved. We just beat Ireland twice in Ireland before the WC. In our back yard we beat them 3-0 in the ODIs with a lucky win mixed in there and we tied 1-1 in the T20s. We reshuffled the deck of players and drew some different cards, but the results have been the same or arguably worse.

Having said all that I wish Polly all the best captaining my team, notwithstanding that I opposed his appointment. And I am a fan of Big Phil who is a genuinely nice human being. I would love to see Polly raise the T20 WC trophy in Ozland later this year. I might even fly over there to watch a few games.

i have given him some credit for being open to change, dropping players where he sees fit, taking responsibility etc

but at some point those will have to be translated and measured in tangible ways

What you and the chair man are dancing around are the home and away to Srilanka and the disastrous WC campaign. Gibson was hired with a charter of winning the WC. The India and Australia success was on back of the excellent work done by Russell Domingo.

In the immortal words of Bill Parcells, you are what your record says you are. We showed some fight and improvement during the India series, but we showed fight and improvement against India in 2018 also.

SA's biggest humiliation was when they lost to SL at home..In the current series ,SA still have a chance to square the series.

You said this

WI winning ODIs now doesn't mean much. Global cricket is focused on 20/20 and Tests for the next 2 years..

Yet you said this about a loss in tests just before the last WC:
SA's biggest humiliation was when they lost to SL at home..In the current series ,SA still have a chance to square the series.

Perhaps that Sri Lanka loss meant a lot because global cricket was not focused on ODIs prior to the last WC. And the England losses don't mean much even though global cricket is now focused on Tests and T20s smile
