Asking their supporters to go to the polling stations after they close to "protect the ballot boxes"
It would be a funny statement if not for the elections history in Gy.

This country will end up worse than TT - the hatred/angst between the two main groups is more intense. Just too bad...

Political mouthpieces could say all they want. The people will show how far they have progressed beyond crude racist thinking.
BTW, I recently heard a new Indian song, in traditional Indian musical style, exhorting its audience to "Vote For The PPP". Now, if that isn't racist and backward to the core, then nothing is.
In reply to Norm
What is your race Norm, are they exhibiting more large heartedness by calling for the support of the other side?
I think you should start raising the standards of your own people than expect other people to bend backwards for you.
In reply to steveo
Sure, sure. Let us sink to the lowest common denominator - until everyone else cleans up. Always a great recipe for social progress.
Anyways, thanks for agreeing that the song is seriously racist to the core, but that you are ok with that. Oh, I will tell everyone of my "race" to pull their racist songs, so that your race could consider pulling theirs.
Amazing logic on display here.
In reply to Larr Pullo
The younger generations in Guyana seem to be slowly coming around to "one people" - much to the chagrin of the racist types. I love how the other side is always the culprit for Guyanese.
In reply to Norm
Okay. Having actually sat and listened to that "song" and knowing I will never get back that 4 minutes and 7 seconds of my life, what is it about the song that makes it "racist to the core"?
Is it because it was sung by an Indian guy? Is it because it was done to traditional Indian/Chutney instrumentation? Is it because it was a song done in support for the PPP Party? Or is it that it was done by an Indian guy, to traditional Indian/Chutney Instrumentation, in support for the PPP Party?
Because I didn't hear the use of any racial slur or racial language of any sort throughout the song.
Wheel away.
In reply to SnoopDog
An appeal to an assumed Indian audience to vote for the PPP, makes it racist.
In reply to Norm
Looks very much to me like you've based your own prejudice and paranoia on an assumption. Nothing about the song actually makes it come within any established definition of racism.
Also, by this logic if an Afro Guyanese listens to that song and it somehow convinces him/her vote for PPP it ceases to be "racist to the core?".
In reply to Norm
The song isn't racist. Actually, it's a melding of two genres. "Hands in the air and vote them out" is your normal Soca call and response, and it's blended in with Chutney. Now it's not by any means a good song, but racist, no. I don't hear any call to one particular ethnic group to vote PPP/c or anything.
Of course one should examine the fake doctor and the fake certificate man and ask why would anyone vote for a candidate and his puppeteer who flaunt fake academic credentials but thats a whole nother story...
In reply to Larr Pullo
You see this shit hey? This is Dotard vs. Billary 2020 Guyanese style.
On the one hand you have a lazy, fat, big mouth, jackass who running around with fake degrees and on the other hand you have a dumb as door knob, election rigging moron who just sent the last of the 1980 ballot boxes off to Wuhan, China.
The poor suffering Guyanese people have these 2 choices come this year election.
Why yaall kick Shuman off the ballot for, ow me god

SMH, What's wrong with these PNC supporters?
In reply to Runs
Dual citizenship bhai
Racism can be implied, ask Trump.
Racists see racism in everything.
PNC supporters pulling down PPP/C flags of light poles and kicking down barrels from rooftops.
You wont see PPP/C supporters doing that.
Check this back in 2015

Are you aware there are reggae, soca, dancehall etc songs by the PNC with the same theme as whatever song you cited there?? The current election campaigns are more like carnival processions than anything serious. There are DJs splicing pump up music clips in the speeches. If Granger and Ifran had a rap battle it would would not be out of tune with whats happening.
You are reasonable on a lot of issues but on this you are out of touch.
In reply to Runs
Guyanese stupid but not that stupid
In reply to steveo
We need to see the proof for all PPP, AFC and PNC candidates who claimed they relinquished also.

Looks like everybody happy with their own racism. It's just the other guy's that's bad.

I think Jesus says "take out the plank out of your eye before you point out the spot in anothers"
If you want to talk about racism, how about calling out all the perpetrators instead of focusing on only one side?
In reply to Larr Pullo
Larwa has come a long way!
In reply to Norm
If that isn't much lower than Jalass Indian song thread, then nothing is.
Since I ran into this internet character called (AB)Norm, he has expoused this crap that Indians did not integrate in Guyana....BECAUSE they eat Indian origin food and listen to Indian origin music.
Straight from Burnham's playbook to disavow or ban anything from Indian/Asian food to culture. "Flour Power" etc.
It ain't supposed to be so! Out of Many, ONE! Does not mean eliminate many!
Africans brought a lot of culture too, which unfortunately was suppressed or eliminated by the then Colonial slave masters.
Nobody has an issue when the slaves or indentured laborers adopted Western values, styles, religions etc.
Western is not the only, or best, game in town!
Disclaimer: I had a classmate with similar sounding name and I can affirm and attest that he has not had an iota of racism in his blood or bones! He just gets carried away with various odd and deviant "theories" in his mind, the makings of a genius but they can be goofy and crazy as Hell.
the song is stupid, but it aint racist.. ...
and I aint a PPP man
You all miss the f**king point. The song itself does not need to be racist. It is the manner in which the song is being used that is racist.
I am done with you bunch of f**king dotards!

Norm and his Russian education and living only understands utopian socialism. The harsh realities of on the ground escapes him.
In reply to XFactor
That's a racist to the core statement right there. Strike it from the record!
PPP condones the song, so PNC is provocative with 'stay at the polling station to prevent scampishness'; tit for tat, pitteepattah games, quid pro quo!
In reply to SnoopDog
Norm seems agitated recently. Perhaps something profound or just lingering bitterness from Black working him over recently.
In reply to SnoopDog
Broke my brains, alright!
I can't believe how ingrained this racism thing is. I thought Guyanese wanted to end racism. Instead, many hang on dearly to it, to justify wronging others, or hating them.
I can understand why PPP would condone racism at election time, but it always amazes me that PNC supporters would let themselves get dragged into the racist game, and be fooled time and again.
Anyway, all you enjoy your racist games. All you deserve what all you get, election after election. The new fat boy licking his chops in anticipation of another long spell of plundering.
In reply to Norm
Norm, nothing racist there. You have an issue with chutney?
In reply to Norm
Racism is a campaign strategy used by all the political parties in Guyana. It is murky as to who is the wiser of the two parties. And sadly, its ignorant voters that gets dragged into the fray.
In reply to Curtis
Am not accusing any individual of racism here - but a specific process.
I love the music, and the spice!
The style of that particular piece (at the center of the discussion) was obviously intended to appeal to people in the villages (sort of like "Fowl Kack Ah Knack Ah Drum", for example). Anyway, some of us could pretend that there is a misunderstanding about the intent, attempt to deflect by stating that the song itself has no racist elements, etc.
Any song in the context of Guyana that targets a specific race to get them to vote along race lines, is racist - not in content, but in intent.
In reply to Norm
So what about reggae or soca songs targeting APNU voters?
Would you consider those racist?
They're just aimed at a target demographic.
Now, if you were to say racial politics is totally wrong for GT, I would agree.
In reply to Curtis
Would you consider those racist?
Absolutely.
A demographic called "race".
Your statement is akin to saying that being racist is ok at election time.
In reply to Norm
Now, what if APNU release a chutney campaign song?
Or PPP did a soca or reggae chune?
What say you, Norm?
In reply to Curtis
Or PPP did a soca or reggae chune?
I would say "Praise to them!"
In reply to Curtis
That would be considered cultural appropriation.
