Bishop: CWI was wrong to sack management team

Former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop maintains the wrong call was made to overhaul the entire management team of the senior men’s side on the eve of last year’s 50-overs World Cup in England.

A year after former St Kitts and Nevis cabinet minister, Ricky Skerritt, captured the Cricket West Indies presidency, the decision to remove controversial Englishman Richard Pybus and replace him with former West Indies batsman Floyd Reifer, has remained a contentious talking point.

And Bishop told CNC3’s ViewPoint on Friday considering the fallout from such a move, some measure of patience with the then management team could have been exercised.

“Maybe on reflection there should have been a little more patience, from my point of view, handed down just prior to that World Cup,” said Bishop now a well-respected international television cricket analyst.

Skerritt did politically correct thing by sacking the entire team management.Imagine a situation ,where windies team perform well in World Cup with Pybus as head coach..... Cameroon decision would have been vindicated...Once a politician always a politician...

It's not all about politics. Sometimes you plain have to be truthful.

And it doesn't mean you no longer support management

Bish got mout now almost one year after the fact??? Big loud stewps

I was Tricky Dick Pybus's biggest detractor on this board, but it was tomfoolery to fire him after the England series win with the World Cup on the horizon.

Tricky Ricky Skillet is a politician and politicians should be kept far far away from WI cricket ...

After the horse bolt, whats the use of this revelation. shock

Anyone with an iota of cricketing sense could tell you that changing the selection committee and coaching staff just before a major tournament made no sense. And the coaching staff went out and selected the same squad anyway so what was the big deal

So at this point its merely stating the obvious and I cant imagine what Bishop hope to achieve with his year late analysis.
