Pray for Banner he is fighting for his life
In reply to ponderiver
Oh shit. Best of luck to him.
In reply to JahJah
Seconded...all the best.
Good luck to Banner! Praying for a speedy recovery!
In reply to ponderiver
Damn, I hope he recovers, fully.
I started the roll call thread for this reason.
In reply to ponderiver
O dear, that's aweful! I hope he beats it.
One of my cousin who works at a hospital in England contracted it. Well, they didn't give him the result, but we suspect it's that.
Thank God he is on the mend.
Will pass on all of your well wishes
In reply to ponderiver
Sorry to hear.3 friends of mine passed on and 1 is on a ventilator and a few more are positive. Please pass on my well wishes to Banner's family. This is very scary.
Damn! fight the fight Banner.
In reply to Dukes
Will do
Hang in there Banner!
In reply to ponderiver
Damn - this is awful
Get well soon Banner
Get well soon,banner!
Sad news. I hope he pulls through. Is he on a ventilator?
Get well soon Banner,
A close friend passed last night from the dreaded Covid-19. Until one actually knows someone afflicted it ceases to be an abstract statistic.
In reply to jacksprat
Until one actually knows someone afflicted it ceases to be an abstract statistic.
Well said..
In reply to jacksprat
There was a poster here who was saying this is over blown.
wait..banner of this forum ?
sorry to hear...all the best to him.
In reply to ponderiver
Get well soon Banner. God speed
In reply to WI_cricfan
An understatement. For the people who still don't believe all they need to do is reference the posters saying how many people they know are infected or died. Nuff said.
Keep fighting Banner. Good Luck!
In reply to ponderiver
Oh, man! So sorry to hear. Speedy recovery, Banner.
--Æ.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery for banner
sorry to hear. Hope for a quick recovery.
In reply to ponderiver
Thoughts and prayers for Banner.
In reply to ponderiver
Send my prayers and best wishes to Banner. May he get well soon!!
Best wishes to Banner
In reply to ponderiver
Awful news...Very sorry to hear.Praying for his recovery.
Let us pray for our brother.
In reply to nitro
Excuse me....Is this not the gentleman who would go on diatribes about the worthlessness of God and Religion?
I hope the man pulls through, no doubt.
But how do you pray for God to help someone who does not believe in him?
Sending healing wishes to Banner!!
In reply to Ayenmol
...not the time and place...
I hope the poster pulls through
In reply to Ayenmol
God doesn't hold grudges.
In reply to Ayenmol
Excuse me....Is this not the gentleman who would go on diatribes about the worthlessness of God and Religion?
Are you sure about that? I dont remember ever saying that.
I am not an expert on religion and praying so i will not argue about that with you mr expert.
In reply to Ayenmol
That's one of the good if not great things about those who believe. To date, not a single one of them contracted this dreaded Coronavirus much less died from it.
In reply to Curtis
Really? So the man goes through his life vehemently opposed to the existence of God, then am supposed to pray to God to heal him miraculously?
Which scripture in the Bible supports that?
So....has he done the above?
In reply to Drapsey
Drapsey please discuss that with this holier than though fellow on some other thread.
In reply to Drapsey
Who are these people that you speak of?
In reply to nitro
So all the people that have died, no one prayed for them?
How does God choose which will die and which he will keep?
Hang in there Banner--
In reply to ponderiver
Keep fighting Banner - dont give up -- FIGHT bro!
Sad news indeed. Keep fighting Banner ..
I dont know banner, but the best of luck.
I wish you well
This C19 is extremely dangerous as I keep noting on various threads.
If one is on a ventilator one has a 40% chance of surviving and the odds go down the longer one is on it.
Its scars the lungs not allowing it to function. Watch carefully when it rebounds later.
Add my voice to the list...all the best
In reply to Ayenmol
Inappropriate and ungodly- you may be destroyed in your Armageddon.... back to the trenches you worthless apostate.... I love you brother but you must be kind. If not I will lay you over my knee where there will be weeping and knashing of teeth.
Banner, may the True God give you succor in your time of need
Get well soon Banner
If he can, let him eat lots of fresh, raw, ripe, watery fruits to hydrate* and clear his lungs, nose and body of mucus so he could breathe better. Stop all sugar and salt, and food that take long to digest because they will dehydrate and clog the body up more and produce more mucus and make it harder to breathe.
*Fresh, raw, ripe, watery fruits hydrate the body in a way regular water can't. Don't stop drinking water though, obviously.
One caveat- diarrhea will likely happen as that is one way the body tries to cleanse itself and one of the ways mucus is eliminated.
I hope everything turns out good.
Hang in there and fight on Banner.
In reply to Barry
show me a scripture that backs up your judgement....I guess your words regarding my future is Godly?
I have presented the truth from the Bible....am not wishing anything bad for banner....if he is strong enough he may survive, if not, he may not. I have not judged anyone....but no matter what you or anyone else thinks, post or wishes, God does not change his standards.
So show me where am wrong and where the Bible teaches prayer can save an unbeliever.
In reply to ponderiver
Thats damnn rough to hear.
Hope he pulls through.
In reply to Ayenmol
Why don't you get off the thread, or start another one just foryour attention seeking douche baggery!
Ladies and Gents,
Let's respect Banner here, ok.
In reply to Larr Pullo
Meh, i expect nothing better from you or others.....love to speak of lies and dishonesty but then fall for it as long as there is some emotional angle.
Quit asking for prayers for people. It means little to those who have no faith and God is not listening to prayers to heal.
Your emotional outburst and attempt to ostracize not withstanding.
Prayers recover quickly my brother
I pray for a speedy recovery. All the best to Banner.
In reply to Ayenmol
Ayenmol, your dogma describes a resurrection for the righteous and unrighteous- it is very distinct to mainstream Christianity because it positions the final judgement after the 1000 year reign. The SDA version is similar but distinct.
New Living Translation
I have the same hope in God that these men have, that he will raise both the righteous and the unrighteous.
In reply to ponderiver
Prayer from Psalm 23 for Banner
//
In reply to Ayenmol
Easy!!!!
Here goes:
Father God (Jehovah) I pray for the deliverance of our brother Banner in this time of ailment. I pray that you may use this time of difficulty as a revelation of your mercy and divine power...for we know that ALL have sinned and come short of your glory.
AMEN.
See? Not too difficult for people of faith.
Hope you make it bro
Keep fighting banner
In reply to doosra

In reply to cricketmad
All the best to you and the wife boss. Hope you have a speedy recovery. I have a friend in NYC with all the symptoms who has been trying to get tested for 4 days now with no luck.

In reply to Halliwell
I hope the poster pulls through
Very mild smack down. More was required, but as you said "not time and place."
I want to share wholeheartedly similar sentiments already expressed and hope to see Banner back on this MB full of fight and vigor.
Best wishes Banner.
In reply to cricketmad
Best wishes to you both for a full recovery. Tell us more about after you're doing well again.
It seems to treat different people differently. It is going to need some real good medical detective to wrestle this Covid-19 to the ground
In reply to cricketmad
I'm sorry to hear you've caught the virus. My prayer goes out to you and your wife.
In reply to cricketmad
Speedy and full recovery
Stay strong Banner
Bat on Banner...
We are all rooting for you !!!
Prayers for you Banner. We know you will pull through this storm.
All the best Banner. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
In reply to Ayenmol
"Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;"
Persecute: subject (someone) to hostility and ill-treatment, especially because of their race or political or religious beliefs.
Now stop acting like a clown it's disturbing man...
In reply to cricketmad
Best wishes to you and your wife.Hope you guys have a full and speedy recovery.
praying for Banner...hope you pull through man...
In reply to hotarobin
What are you praying for in their behalf...
Jesus prayed for God to forgive those who put him to death....what was the outcome?
The robner who was nailed to the stake next to Jesus expressed faith in Jesus...did Jesius save him from his sentence?
Every single person who Jesus healed expreased faith...
Not only expressed but put faith in acrion which resulted in the mercy from God.
Can you show me a single one who was a result of prayer by someone else?
Banner! You're a big brawny bad bannah...so, fight it!
In reply to Ayenmol
...you asked for a scripture. I gave you one but nooooo you are the type to shift the goal posts until you can get a win because serving the Lord is about winning for you which is fundamentally flawed...check yourself soldier...
Anyways the man who was healed at the pool of Bethesda didn't exactly express faith, he was healed immediately when Jesus told him to take up his pallet...
Now I am not going to get into any further silly arguments with you on this forum...check yourself soldier...
In reply to ponderiver
good luck to Banner, I hope he recovers quickly.
Banner I hope to see you posting again soon.
In reply to cricketmad
get well soon bro, both you and your wife.
It was just a matter of time before cc.com members caught the virus too.
A speedy recovery to those who catch it.
Banners , is a good thing you cah jump in this thread and talk....but , you don't need to .
Lots of positive vibes on here, except for the few rain clouds hovering around,,,but so it go with the rain.
I've got a cuz, young woman, 1 week in hospital and she fighting the fight....when we had feared the worse.
It might be slow , but so it go, small improvements will add up. Keep the spirit up, and your thoughts positive.
At the end of the day...we r all in this together as this plague cuts across every class, sect, ethnic group .
Let me doh say the word plague .........
In reply to cricketmad
Take care, you and your wife, my friend.
Isolate for as long as you have the virus, not the 7 days the idiots in the British government were saying. Boris Johnson is in his 11th day!
The WHO Recommends that you self-isolate for 14 days after symptoms cease. I follow the WHO, not the British government.
Stay strong cricketmad and Banner..beat this SOB.
Thanks all your your kind wishes. I was the first to get the virus, and after a few days started to feel much better ,then my wife started showing symptoms. As if that wasnt bad enough I started showing new symptoms which would appear to go away only to return. This bastard of a virus makes you just want to lay in bed ,and sleep away. I have to be caring for my wife while suffering myself as she is much weaker than me,and is diabetic.I realized yesterday that my wife was giving up ,and took things into my hands by forced feeding her .She wasnt eating or drinking anything, all she wanted to do was sleep.
This cunning virus test your resolve to the max ,it lulls you into thinking you have beaten it then hits you with a vengeance .You lose your desire for anything ,but sleep which is where it wants you at your weakest point.
In reply to cricketmad
Thanks for sparing a bit of time for us, bro, in your hour of greatest need. Get someone young that your wife loves, and who puts a smile on her face readily, to spend time with her and encourage her to fight.
You stay strong too.
In reply to cricketmad
Best of luck man! Dont give up!
A friend of mine had it and recovered. He pretty much said the same thing, that you feel like youre recovering only to be knocked down back again!
In reply to cricketmad
I hope both of you get well soon.
In reply to cricketmad
Sorry to hear that, hope both of you get well, soon.
Get well soon and fight on each day Banner and cricketmad. Hope your family also pulls through all of this.

ways.. Fight.and continue to fight with great resolve to beat this evil thing.
My prayers are with you both that God will strengthen your will to win this battle for you both.
In reply to cricketmad

My prayers are with you Banner, cricketmad and Family.

In reply to cricketmad

I want to say bat on fellas. I am not because a bat caused all this problem for you.
Get well fellas and family. Speedy recovery
In reply to cricketmad
get well soon hopefully you will be able to pull through this...hopefully you have a strong support system. My brother said it was like two and a half weeks of hell to his body, high fevers at night, only wanting to sleep, no appetite, etc and that mostly the support from family, associates and friends helped him to fight his way through...you do have some support on this thread so I hope it gives you some engouragement...
In reply to cricketmad
Whatever you do keep moving around. Do not lay in bed and succumb to the desire to just sleep. That is when it will stress your lungs and cause you to suffer from oxygen depletion. KEEP MOVING!!!
In reply to Larr Pullo
I am not out of danger yet ,but is doing a lot better than my wife .Tonight she was admitted to hospital .
In reply to cricketmad

I know two people who passed away recently, one from the virus and the other from a heart attack, I and many others couldnt attend either funeral......the unintended consequences of this virus.
In reply to Titleist
My buddy from Uni days died from a heart attack last friday morning in Georgetown.
I don't believe any of his siblings were able to attend since they live abroad.
In reply to jacksprat
True dat. My 91y.o Aunt Myra died of COVID - 2 days ago. She was in a NYC hospital for 5 days putting up a fight.
The big deal right now is finding a funeral home that have the space and capability to handle the arrangements for burial.
Luckily today my Cuz got word from one to cine see them tomorrow.
That Aunt was my Rock of Gibraltar. I grew up with her from 8 y.o. through my high school years when my mom migrated to UK as one of those many nurses recruited to London back in the days.
She kept me and my young brother on the straight & narrow despite our rebellion. She is missed!!
Hoping For the best outcomes for Banner and Cricketmad & wife.
This is not going away anytime soon. The patient has to be in the fight alongside any medication to pull through - dont give up.
crews of Informationists are fighting hard to follow the research and determine with the clinical scientists at TU and many places new best practices to research and find a path to stop this pandemic. Drug discovery is NOT an overnight thing ... but there are signs upcoming.
Peeps this is the long haul - dont pay Trump no mind - this is beyond end of April sadly.

In reply to ponderiver
So sad- another one gone....
May I share a reading from John 11
21Martha said to Jesus, Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.
22But even now I know that God will give You whatever You ask Him.
23Your brother will rise again, Jesus told her.
24Martha replied, I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
25Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though he dies.
26And everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?
27Yes, Lord, she answered, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.
I am so sorry to learn of Banner's passing .May he rest in peace .To all those who have lost friends ,and love ones my condolences. My wife is slowly getting better in hospital, and I think I have passed the worst.

Very sorry to hear about your Aunt Myra np, as well as Banner and others.
You are right. This thing is with us for the long haul, and the sooner we all get that the better.
My hope is that we will all emerge in a different world... a world that knows it must put social development (people) ahead of economic development (banksters & conglomerates) because if we don't we will lose both people and the economy.

Its bad here in NO ....
I'm pretty sure it must have been circulating when I was there. I remember 2 weeks after I left I had this weird flu like event. I was in NYC and came down with a fever and other symptoms, but it went away pretty quickly. I boosted the Vitamin C and Zinc and that was that. I'll do an anti-body test after this is all done to see if anything shows up.

So sorry to hear this bro.
wow. so sorry to hear the passing of banner, this is heart breaking indeed. condolences to the family.
I live on this site in my virtual world and feel part of a community here since I am not a in a very populated town with many West Indians. The sense of humor is very refreshing and reminds me of my roots.
The loss of a member therefore under the given or any circumstances is most devastating. May the Supreme grant His Divine Grace to all the family and friends of Banner.
Our time in this world is marked by the happy memories we leave behind with those we encountered. It is also a measurement of our humanity and a crucial aspect of this blessed human lifecycle. The many tributes here clearly suggests the passing of a special soul from our world with Banner existing stage right.
For those of us still on the stage, in any given year , we are also passing that day/month that will ultimately become our departure date or forever our end of time anniversary. We therefore have to spare a moment daily to honor those that have impacted us so we too can leave this world a better place than they way we found it. That should be things with in our control and not as far as CWI, to not be too dark on a peaceful Good Friday.
May Lord Krishna bless , guide and protect the beloved Banner's family and friends during this moment of testing.
In reply to cricketmad

In reply to Dukes
Thanks again ALL For the heartfelt emotions from our CC family. Regrets all round to all who have losses - friends, family and loved ones.
There will be continued fatalities based on the continued growth of infections. And there will too, a light at the end of the long tunnel
Yes, and its not to be expected tomorrow or in a week. Testing of any antidote will require - test, results (a while) then more bench work depending on results of test. Test again as needed - then launch. Be patient folks and OBSERVE THE DISTANCING - it will pay dividends.

Condolences to all that lost family, friends and acquaintances in these times.
So much sadness all around, more so when the impact of this virus hits so close to home - virtual and immediate families.
To all those who have lost close ones - family or friends - please accept my sincere condolences. May your departed ones find eternal peace. I offer you my thoughts, prayers, and well-wishes in the hope of lifting up your spirits during this period and these dark and troubling times.
Hopefully, we will all get through this trying period together, but also as stronger, better and more thoughtful human beings, as a result of this experience.
Thanks to everyone for their heartfelt condolences on the passing of our fellow poster Banner and my deepest sympathy to NP Cricketmad and all who are suffering from the loss of family or friend or are waiting anxiously for their family or friend to pull through

condolences to you and the rest of your family .. 91 is a nice long innings...As a barrel pickney, i know that aunties and grannies are the best!
Looking at this thing, and reading the post from Larr, i have a similar experience and just sense that this thing was going around from maybe January. i travel a lot and earlier this year in DC i went to urgent care with what i viewed as a bad cold, and they checked me for strep and the flu..both were negative. the numbers in Miami and ft lauderdale are rising by 1,000 infections each day. it just seems this was here from earlier in the year.

Been away for a while. My deepest condolences to Banner's family and friends. He trained Gavin Tonge in his early days and always used to ask about him.
Hope that his family finds some comfort in God and find a way to celebrate his life and not just grieve death.
RIP Banner.
I am extremely saddened by the passing of Banner
I got to know him a bit and he was a really nice person.
May his family find peace and comfort.
Man I'm sitting here and tears coming to my eyes.

Boy, this dam thing is really aweful to think about. So much grief and sadness and loneliness.
A friend lost his mother to it; another friend lost his father, now another distant relative is about to lose his son to this dam thing.
And what's even worse, the guy has a wife and 2 little children.
Some real tough time this.
In reply to doosra
One good thing, a cousin's son in Eng had it, but he is out of the hospital and recovering. I'm really glad for that, bcs we R really close.
Oh wow. This is incredibly sad news. My deepest sympathies to his family.

i learned moments ago that a sister of one of our old friends died in NY. She was 60. This is really terrible.
A cousin of mine in England is recovering from it.
sorry to hear about Banner!
did anyone else know Banner except Pondi?
some really nice tributes about him
i cant believe he is gone man
43 is no flikkin age to die, not like this
In reply to doosra
43? Awe Man, I'm absolutely lost for words.
What of his kids growing up, if he had any, without a father... Man, I can't think of that.
In reply to doosra
43?? Wow...didn't realize he was that young.
Thing is...because the health system is so overwhelmed...its easy to die of other stuff that may have been relatively treatable too.
I keep telling my folks at work...that safe work practices are EVEN MORE important now. You don't want a medical aid incident at this time. I mean you never do... but its really tough now.
Lots of people can't even bury their folks properly now either.
In reply to doosra
Sad fi true

Chrissy, with this dam thing, I kinda try living each day as is if it's my last. Really aweful.

only 43 wow!! Banner was a young guy. Tremendous support being showed on this thread by the number of pages thus far....very touching indeed...would be good to highlight some of his more notable posts...
I was of the impression he was an older gentleman, this makes it even worse,we're all at risk..
Rest in peace Brother and all the best to his family..
In reply to bravos
we're all at risk..
In reply to hotarobin
It's not rubbish, older folks are more vulnerable but younger people with underlying conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart conditions or other serious preexisting conditions are also at risk.

Man had real stock
Lee Harvey Nurse (born 24 December 1976) was an English cricketer. Nurse was a right-handed batsman. He was born in Basingstoke, Hampshire. He died on 9 April 2020 as a result of complications of COVID-19 during the coronavirus pandemic.[1]
Nurse made his debut for Berkshire County Cricket Club in the 1997 Minor Counties Championship against Dorset. He played 29 Minor Counties Championships matches for the side, with his final appearance for the county coming against Cheshire.[2] He also played in 14 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches, the last of which came against Dorset in 2006.[3]
Nurse also represented the county in List A matches, making his List A debut against Sussex Cricket Board in the 2000 NatWest Trophy. He represented the county a seven List A matches, with his final match in that format coming against Durham in the 2003 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy.[4]

Perfect!

Nice tribute from all round. Blessings to his family!!!
In reply to Dan_De_Lyan
indeed he has quite a body of work
Based on his postings Banner was a Brian Lara admirer and supporter and maybe thats why we got along well on the forum. He posted more on the cricket side of this Oval than over here so we never really engaged in the world arena of ideas and cultural exchanges but I remember him well.
When I first joined, I was more active on the Cricket side of the house. I remember there were a couple anti-Trini cricket subjects by anti-Trini posters on that side of the school yard derived simply on their view of Trinis so I had to straighten that out very quickly before coming over here to post regularly. Banner on the other hand, batted over there like a seasonal veteran, always level headed and you could tell his input and reason always came from experience.
But all in all Banner, you gave us here on this site a memorable innings. The regulars in here can easily remember your threads and that says a lot. i lift my bat to you on behalf of all the level minded reasonable ones that still exist here. I lift my the same way Lara did at Kensington in 1999 after humiliating the Aussies, because that's the type of tribute you demand for what you have contributed here at this CC Oval.

We are 4 weeks into the lockdown and all social norms have been turned upside down for good
I suspect there is a quiet cull
going on in the job sector some immediately after the first wave of furloughing.
employers are getting ruthless by the minute
As the enormity sinks in some staff are being furloughed for good
Hope you and family are good stay safe

so i have been told that employers are quietly getting rid of salaried staff.
it is not going to be an easy recovery and there will be some protest. Corbyn is lucky- was a good election to lose.

terribly sad news. I am so sorry sir....
Thanks all for your kind words guys.MY heart goes out to all those who are affected by this invisible terrorist .What make it so hard is that being under lock down prevents friends ,and love ones from being around to offer comfort.
In reply to cricketmad
that must be incredibly hard to cope with it. Rest assured that although we may be physically far apart, many of us on the board will not socially distance ourselves from you.
Hopefully you find some form of solace on this and other threads.
In reply to cricketmad
Yes, the isolation makes it so much more difficult for loved ones to be present and physically wrap their arms around each and grieve.
But I pray that you are not lonely and can find solace in God and your loved-ones through the challenges, the struggles and emotions you are feeling.
My condolences cricketmad and to everyone else.
Its really strange not to hear from Larr. Anyone have a way of getting in touch with him?

I must say I had not visited this thread much of late and there it was at the top of the pile, catching my attention with more disturbing and sad news afflicting the CC.com family.
I wish to extend my sincere condolence to Cricktemad on the passing of his wife. Last recalled him saying she was struggling, whereas he was recovering from this deadly predator.
Crickemad may she rest in eternal peace. I wish you peace and comfort during this time and hope the memories of a life shared together give you the strength to carry on
I extend my condolences also to dale-_staple and np and hope all the best wishes on this thread surrounded you with strength and compassion at this time.
