Jacko...

Former Guyana and West Indies ‘B’ team batsman Andrew Fitz Donald Jackman was born in Georgetown on January 27, 1963 and is one of three brothers who played Youth Cricket for Guyana.
His eldest sibling, Errol played for Guyana in the 1969 and 1970 Regional U-19 tournaments as a left-arm spinner, while Colin, eight years older that Andy, played as a batsman in 1973 and ’74 and was good enough to score a century and two fifties from seven matches.

Good article, like Jackman said cricket has changed, the veterans do not stick around to past on technical knowledge to the younger players.

I don't think Jackman looked at the development of athletes around the world, or even players in England, where he live.
We continue to looked at the seventies, not seeing the rest of the world, have put in place development structures, starting at the grassroots level, for all major sports.
Shiv played lots of cricket in Guyana, did the players at his club had a structure to assist them, like the Guyana track athletes training in the states or England?

I saw that innings at Bourda, if my memory serves me well it was in the 2nd innings, he didn't get much in the 1st. Albertown/Queenstown man, we were all very proud of him. I know his brother Keith.

andy jackman was a agressive batsman more suited for t20 cricket. i remember as a youth listening to cricket on radio in guyana. jackman use to make a quick fire 30 and get out. same with lamber and lyght. These guys are more suited for t20 cricket.

No sir, maybe Lambert for T20, Jackman and Monster were proper batsmen.

I know Andy Jackman very well and I have followed his cricketing career very closely and I find your conclusion strange.Could you provide evidence to back up your statement of fact that he was more suited to T 20 cricket?
He did average 37.93 in first class cricket and having checked the first class average of other Guyanese cricketers who did not play test cricket that is a darn sight better than most if not all of them.In fact it is better than quite a few who have actually worn the maroon cap!!!!

I BELIEVE IN FACTS!!!!!!!

So, proper batsmen do not play T20?

However, it seems your facts might not be another's. lol

My bad, I should have stated my assumptions. Proper batsmen meaning folks who are more akin to batting slower (lower strike rate), longer and with a straighter bat. As opposed to folks with a higher strike rate, powerful, generally shorter concentration levels and a more agricultural technique....seen lol

FIRST CLASS CRICKET

1. Andy Jackman 2,238 runs @ 37.93 with 5 centuries
2.Timur Mohammed 2,526 runs @ 36.08 with 5 centuries
3.Ravi Seeram 1,997 runs @ 35.03 with 3 centuries
4.Mark Harper 2,156 runs @ 33.68 with 4 centuries
5.Andrew Lyght 2,112 runs @ 32.00 with 6 centuries
6.Tyrone Etwaroo 1,131 runs @ 31.41 with 2 centuries
7.Sudesh Dhaniram 2,040 runs @ 29.14 with 4 centuries

Since Clayton Lambert was mentioned
8,405 runs @42.88 with 22 centuries
These are all the Guyanese batsmen who played first class cricket with Andy Jackman. I have left out Carl Hooper and Roger Harper who played significant numbers of test matches.
Now,I am eager to hear how one can justify that poster's comments about Andy Jackman after looking at the first class careers of Jackman's Guyanese contemporaries.
