with the speed at which they are counting I don't see 156 days as being unreasonable to finish the recount. Actually 156 days is very conservative.

so where is the live video of every box being counted?

Man if you guys don't think that GECOM and APNU rigging this for APNU you need a brain.
No recount was needed to show that the APNU won, All that was needed was for GECOM and APNU to produce their signed copies of the SOPs to prove the PPP/C wrong.

This is an insult to intelligent people. Long live PNC bullyism and skulduggery in Guyana!

For Day One, 25 of 2,339 ballot boxes were counted.

Seven boxes were completed for Region One, six for Region Two, seven for Region Three, and five for Region Four.

With 25 boxes completed, 50 Statements of Recount (SORs) were produced and provided to respective party agents and stakeholders; 25 for general elections and 25 for regional.

WI_cricfan 2020-05-08 18:27:13

After two days, the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has managed to completely recount the ballots cast in 65 of the 2339 polling stations which operated on March 2, 2020.

This dismal number, a mere 3% of the total, has raised significant questions about the possibility of completing the process in the proposed 25 days as the country remains beset by an electoral crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic and without a Parliament or budget for 2020.

Runs 2020-05-08 19:45:03

WI_cricfan 2020-05-09 14:03:56

Forty-three ballot boxes from the March 2nd general elections were recounted yesterday, bringing the three-day tally to 108 of 2339 boxes and upping the pressure on GECOM to decide how to quicken the process that has been slowed by numerous queries from the incumbent APNU+AFC.

The number of boxes counted is just 5% of the total and a proposed 25-day period would not be met at this pace. It means that each of the 10 stations counted 4.3 boxes over 11 hours. Speaking with journalists outside the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC), Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) spokes-person Yolanda Ward disclosed that 10 boxes were completed in both Regions One and Two while 11 boxes in Region 3 were counted and 12 in Region Four.

Chief Executive Officer of the national COVID-19 Task Force, Joseph Harmon says the Carter Center observer team can reapply to enter Guyana and observe the recount of votes but they must adhere and satisfy the COVID-19 process in place.

“What we’re saying is that there was a process which had to be followed and that is what we insisted on, nothing other than that.”

He said the team can still apply to enter Guyana and “go through the right process and so on, we have nothing to hide.”

This process, Harmon explained, includes being tested in their home country and equipped with a certificate that is valid for seven days; if they are unable to be tested prior, then upon landing in Guyana, they will be placed in quarantine for 14 days.

James Bond de APNU propaganda specialist posted this on his facebook page

The PPPC and their minions TNM TCI LJP et al are obstructing our Agents from making queries. Just recently our Counting Agent highlighted four instances of persons who migrated, were not in the country on March 2nd 2020 but their names are ticked off as having voted. Our Agent has the dates and times of departure. Yet still The Citizens Initiative rep Ms Lam is claiming its hearsay. Madam, Arthur Chung Convention Centre isnt a court of law and further you minions hear what the PPPC say and repeat it verbatim.

IF GECOM, the PPPC and its minions continue to harass our Counting Agents when we make our queries on the basis of having a credible result at the end of the day I will publish the names of these persons who migrated and have the Guyanese Public judge for themselves who is interested in credible results or not. It is stinking to high heaven right now!

Here is the reply from Ms Lam

Dear Mr Bond:
I objected to the following:
1. People’s personal movement records being placed in public domain.
2. The implications that multiple Gecom staff allowed someone to vote for another person on Elections Day bypassing all checks and balances. Mind you the incumbent was quite happy to be sworn in based on this same Gecom’s original declarations for the regions.
3. The abuse of state resources to provide down to the time of departure by the incumbent.

At no time did I harass the Apnu -Afc rep nor stopped her from making her objections. In fact I was the last agent to speak well after all spoke. The observation report and the live feed will attest to this and my remarks.

Now y’all ease me this good day with the lies.

P.s after spending months encouraging overseas based Guyanese to come home to vote, you mean to tell me we will invalidate their votes now?

After day 5

With no major hiccups, ballots from a total of 51 boxes were recounted yesterday on day five of the national recount from the March 2 General and Regional Elections.

That figure brings the total number of boxes recounted to 208 out of 2,339. It is the highest daily tally so far but below what is required to meet the 25-day deadline. Twenty-five boxes were recounted on Wednesday, 40 on Thursday and 44 on Friday (this figure had been previously reported as 43) and 48 on Saturday.

WI_cricfan 2020-05-11 18:46:39

Commissioners of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) on Sunday met and decided to ban party agents from using their cell phones to live stream activities at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC) while at the counting stations where ballots cast at the March 2, General and Regional Elections are being recounted.

The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) is slowly increasing the number of ballot boxes it processes daily in the National Recount of votes from the March 2nd general elections. Yesterday, the ten workstations operating at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC) were able to complete 53 boxes moving the total number of boxes recounted to 261 in six days.

The total number to be recounted is 2,339.

Work at recount station No. 8 for Region Four was interrupted Tuesday morning because everyone had to be screened for COVID-19.

The News Room understands that doctors who are stationed at the health tent outside approached the station to say that someone complained that one of the agents was coughing a lot and as a result, everyone had to be screened.

The agent coughing represents APNU+AFC and had accused the PPP agents of calling in the doctors. But Marcia Nadir-Sharma, the agent for the PPP, said she wanted to make it clear that the PPP did not make any such complaint.

Day 7

Yesterday, the National Recount completed its seventh day by processing 48 ballot boxes taking the one-week total to 311 or 13% of the 2,339 boxes generated on polling day.

Spokesperson for the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) Yolanda Ward told reporters last evening that of that number, 12 were from Region One, Nine from Region Two, 12 from Region Three and 15 from Region Four.

The Commission is close to completing the recount At the Arthur Chung Conference Centre for Region One which has a total of 99 boxes. At the end of yesterday the completed recount of that region stood at 78 boxes. Region Four however is far from completed as only 81 of 879 boxes have been recounted. The Commission is exploring different means by which the pace of the process can be increased.

WI_cricfan 2020-05-14 13:02:37

Day 8

Day eight of the national recount process concluded yesterday with another 56 ballot boxes being processed – the highest number to be completed in a day since the process started – bringing the total number of boxes counted so far to 367 of the 2,339.

Public Relations Officer of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), Yolanda Ward, during her final update to the media last evening said that of the 56 ballot boxes, 11 were from Region Two and 15 each were from Regions One, Three and Four.

Ward noted that the counting of ballot boxes in Region One is “almost to an end”. Region One has a total of 99 boxes. Six more boxes remain to be processed for this region.

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio and a number of his colleagues have written President David Granger commending the start of the vote-recount process for Guyana’s disputed March 2nd Presidential election and urging him to permit additional observers to the process.

The Florida Republican Senator did not name the Carter Center which has been trying to send a team to monitor the recount. The government has said that COVID-19 restrictions have to be complied with if the team is to return.

The May 12 letter by the senators said that allowing additional international observers to scrutinize the process is an essential step to strengthening the credibility of the recount.

Day 9

Day nine of the National Recount ended yesterday with the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) having completed the processing of 54 ballot boxes bringing the total number counted to 421 of 2,339.

Included in this number are five boxes from Region One, 11 from Region Two, 17 from Region Three, 14 from Region Four and seven from Region 5.

anthonyp 2020-05-15 22:55:16

The Government of Guyana on Friday denied permission for the Carter Center observers to return to Guyana to observe the recount of votes cast on March 2, 2020.

This is the second time the Government has denied entry to the observers who made an official request through the United States Embassy here; President David Granger had rejected the initial request.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Karen Cummings responded to a May 14 Diplomatic Note sent by U.S Ambassador to Guyana Sara Ann Lynch asking that the Government reconsider its position.

In the Foreign Minister’s response, which was released to the media by the Department of Public Information on Friday, the U.S Ambassador was asked to respect the Government’s decision not to allow the Carter Center observers to return.

The Commission has also tabulated the General Statement of Recount from 462 of those boxes and the Regional Statements of Recount from 464.

The 58 boxes recounted yesterday included one box from Region One, 13 from Region Two, 17 from Region Three, 15 from Region Four and 12 from Region Five.

PNC rejected Carter center because they believe CARICOM is competent, in other words Carter Center is surplus to inventory

THE Government of Guyana has decided not to accept a late re-entry of The Carter Center and the International Republic Institute (IRI) into Guyana to observe the ongoing national recount process, on the basis of the sufficient presence of CARICOM as “the most legitimate interlocutors in the Guyana situation” and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following a week of shifting narratives regarding responsibility for approval of the Carter Center observer team to monitor the elections recount process, there is now evidence that refusal of that approval came via the Office of the President.

Of the 528 completed boxes, the tabulation for the General Elections was completed for 500, and for Regional, 501, at the end of Saturday.

With the Barima Waini Region (Region One) being completed on Friday, Region Five has commenced, and a total of 11 boxes have been completed thus far. In Regions Two, Three and Four, the completed numbers on Saturday were 11, 14 and 13, respectively.
In addition to the stats on the count, GECOM also released a table outlining all the issues, a total of 28, that were raised thus far in the recount process, along with the decision the commission has decided upon, for each issue.

WI_cricfan 2020-05-18 15:34:10

After day 12

Sixty ballot boxes from the March 2nd general elections were recounted yesterday – the highest daily total since the exercise started 12 days ago – and the tabulated result for District One was signed off by all parties even as GECOM continues to wait for the COVID-19 task force to approve more work stations to speed the process up.

Yesterday’s tally brought the total number of completed boxes to 588 out of 2,339.

Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), Yolanda Ward said 13 boxes from Region 2, 15 from District 3, 14 from District 4 and 18 from District 5 were completed. According to Ward nine out of 136 boxes are still to be counted for District 2 and should they be able to complete them today, they will commence counting District 6 ballots.

WI_cricfan 2020-05-19 13:39:53

After day 13

At the end of more than half of the 25 days assign-ed to the National Recount, the Guyana Elections Commission has completed the processing of 642 ballot boxes, a mere 27% of the 2,339 boxes from the March 2, 2020 General and Regional Elections (GRE).

Additionally, after a four-day wait the National COVID-19 Taskforce has granted the Commission permission to establish two of six additional workstations requested.

Speaking with the media yesterday outside the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC), Government-nominated GECOM Commissioner Vincent Alexander said that he had seen a report from the taskforce which granted the Commission permission to establish two more workstations and raised concerns about the current adherence to precautionary measures previously recommended.

WI_cricfan 2020-05-20 13:18:03

After day 14

After adding two workstations, the Guyana Elections Commission was yesterday able to raise its daily total for recounted ballot boxes to 76. This is the highest daily total recorded over the 14 days of the National Recount for the March 2nd general and regional elections which has processed a total of 718 of 2,339 boxes.

According to GECOM public relations officer, Yolanda Ward, those boxes recounted include 18 from Electoral District Three, 14 from District Four, 18 from District Five, 18 from District Six and eight from District Seven.

This is the first day that District Seven is being recounted. Ballot boxes from this District are being processed at one of the two new stations. At the current rate this station would need 10 days to completely recount the 84 boxes generated after polling in that district.

WI_cricfan 2020-05-21 14:53:55

After day 15

A total of 71 ballot boxes were recounted yesterday at the conclusion of day 15 of the national recount and as GECOM seeks to further accelerate the process, Chairperson, Justice (Ret’d) Claudette Singh intends to ask the national COVID-19 task force for two more work stations.

Yesterday’s figure brings the total number of boxes recounted thus far to 789 out of 2339.

Public Relations Officer (PRO) of GECOM, Yolanda Ward last evening said that of the 71 boxes completed, 18 were from Region 3, 14 from Region 4, 13 from Region 5, 20 from Region 6 and 6 from Region 7.

GECOM yesterday recounted 87 ballot boxes, a total of 964 of the 2,339 boxes used on Election Day with a little more than a week left in the original 25-day deadline.

After day 18

With one week left in its original 25-day timetable for the recount of votes from the March 2 polls, the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) still has 1,290 ballot boxes to count, an impossible endeavour in the remaining time.

However, its members remained silent on the way forward yesterday even after a meeting was held yesterday.

Yesterday saw the recount of 85 ballot boxes, for an 18-day total of 1,049 of the 2,339 boxes used on elections day.

After day 19

Only 75 ballot boxes were recounted today for a total of 1,124 out of 2,339, according to GECOM Commissioner, Sase Gunraj.

This means that only 48% of the ballot boxes from the March 2nd general elections have been recounted at the end of day 19 of what should be a 25-day count. Yesterday, 85 ballot boxes were recounted.

After day 20

Day 21 of the national recount concluded yesterday with a total of 82 ballot boxes being recounted and as the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) falls farther behind its 25-day schedule two more work stations could be added today.

After day 21

Currently there are four days and 1,049 boxes left to be recounted. Meeting this deadline would require the recount teams to process in excess of 260 boxes per day; these teams have not been able to amass a daily total of 90 on any of the 21 days that have so far elapsed.

Yesterday, a total of 84 boxes were processed. According to GECOM spokesperson Yolanda Ward that number included 19 from District Three, 15 from District Four, 21 from District Six, 10 from District Seven, 10 from District Eight and nine from District Nine.
