Professor Frederick Hickling, one of Jamaica's most renowned psychiatrists, died on Thursday.
Dr Hickling was a former head of the University of the West Indies (UWI Mona) Psychiatry Department and was also the executive director of the Caribbean Institute of Mental Health.

I did not realize that he was sent to London to do a Bachelor's degree in Anatomy while he was a Medical student at UWI.What that means is that not only was he the best in his year in Anatomy at UWI but I only know of 1 other med student from those days to be also sent to London to do it.That means he was one of the best ever in an area where Surgeons dominate.
To put it bluntly he was one of the BRIGHTEST!!!!!! As usual the brightest are humble.

A genius - completely unassuming.
He did a great piece of research demonstrating that the mental health of West Indians deteriorated in Britain while the mental health of white Brits improved significantly when they migrated to the Caribbean.
