Very proud of her
Girija Edwards, an Ayurveda Educator in Canada is very proud of her late father Dr Philip Aron Edwards, who was born in 1907 at Georgetown, British Guiana. He graduated from McGill Medical School in 1936, and received a graduate diploma in medicine in 1945, specializing in tropical diseases.
Apart from being a doctor, he was the first black athlete from McGill to compete in the Olympics and the first Canadian Olympian to win five Olympic medals, racking up five bronzes over three Olympiads -- in 1928 at Amsterdam Games, 1932 at Los Angeles and 1936 in Berlin. The Phil Edwards Memorial Trophy has been established after him to be presented annually to Canada's most outstanding track athlete.
Girija, 69, says her family has the athletic gene in them. She herself trail runs for 30 km at a time and does mountain hiking for days. When CSP contacted her first, she had just finished a 4-hour trail up the snowline and back, at an elevation of 2000 feet with her daughter. She has four beautiful children, now all university graduates and one 6-year-old grandchild.

Daddy got Uncle Phil's athletic gene.
Bet you didn't know his mother had her own school and his father was a school principal.
Just came off the phone with my second mother - the great Auntie Sheila - she's only 98 - sharp as a three inch nail.

I have no take on it - don't know anything about it. We let our peeps live their lives however they choose.

Dem Hally Berry days done but the one truth of life is that it is better to be rude early and avoid trouble. Funny we always hung out in groups so one of the guys always rescued damsels in distress.
I remember one night at a Stone Love Session - still laughing at dat rescue.
One day soon I'll write a book.

I knew a few great guys but the greatest one of them died in 2006.
I read some data last week from a reputable university showing that the happiest females are those who never married and never had children.
Nuff men can't handle independent women and view us as intimidating. I had one rule - the only person in charge of me is me. Even my parents knew dat. So it go!

Children are a pain in the butt but the ultimate fulfillment is knowing that your genes are going to be passed on to future generations.
