How do you rate bourbon whiskies?

black 2020-05-16 00:30:28

I have always been a beer drinker, didn't care for any kind of hard liquor until, recently.

I tried rum and vodka but didn't care that much for them, now I'm drinking Kentucky Bourbon (Evan Williams) and find it to be quite pleasant.

Anyone here have experience with Bourbon Whiskey, compared to other hard Liquors?

I just recently got into Makers Mark --- I really like it, but I can’t drink like I use to so it’s an occasional change for me

How do you rate Irish or Rye Whiskeys?
My Nephew and pals shoots JD and Makers Mark regular.
I am a Single Malt Scotch drinker, kind of guy.
I believe some deluxe brands are over rated.

Man, I wish I was an expert on the subject, this bourbon thing is new to me. But, I'm inclined to go with the American brands that I know.

Bourbon is an American whiskey, I drink it to be sociable to the people I am with.
If you get away from the states, Bourbon will be the last whiskey you would hear about.

What is the difference between bourbon and regular whiskey?

I have to say, I find the aroma from bourbon to be quite pleasing.

Bourbon is an American whiskey

That is why you know about it, try other whiskeys man.
I knew about Bourbon, before I left bim in 1970.
About 7 years ago, I went to a Patron tasting in Barbados.
People there and in other Islands, have a broader knowledge of products than most American.

I'm not an expert but I'm intrigued by the process of what is considered bourbon, rye, sour mashed, etc....

You sound like my older brother, he left Barbados in 1972, but continue to live in Barbados every day since leaving.
He is clueless, at his daughters wedding, he waited for me to get to the reception, letting me know I had to go to the liquor store to select the wines.

"How do you rate bourbon whiskies?"
I don't. Even the Canadian ones I don't.
The only way I would drink it is if I go by someone's home and they offer. I don't buy it.

In my early years in Calgary, there were numerous bottle parties, Chivas was the choice of a number of West Indians, I witness a guy fell on his face, from shooting Appleton, with every guest, that entered his party.
He still think someone did something with his last drink
The man had one glass, for the drinking fraternity, he poured you a shot, then he poured himself a shot.
JD is one of my nephew and his gang choice to shoot, before the virus it, I took him a 26 ozs for his birthday, you should had seen the size of bottles others Brought.
My wife like Crown Royal and ginger.

One of my older brother loves Chivas, I'm not a cheap. skate but I can't see myself spending that much on liquor.

JD is pretty good also.
