I understand the anger by many when Yagga went to SA. Therefore, I understand the desire to punish him and his great batting memory by hiding or pushing aside films about his batting exploits on the field.
What I cannot understand to this day is where today are the longer batting films about Yagga (some of his greatest innings). Who has them? Were they really permanently destroyed? I believe most would agree that Yagga is no longer a villain to WI cricket after 40 -50 years.
Would someone suggest where these films/videos might be? Not small snapshots, but the real Yagga in full flow as we have about others.
If my memory is correct VIV saw Yagga as a better batsman for a number of years? Where are the films of Yagga making 302? Where is the film of Yagga's first two test innings? Anyone can give answers?

I need to to see them. I saw the Packer innings.
In reply to methodic
I long to see them
In reply to solidrock
if they were available I'm sure they'd have been shown.

I understand that, because of budgetary constraints, JBC would routinely use and re-use tapes, so many significant events-such as Yagga's dream 1972 test debut- would have been lost to posterity.
So the unavailability of those tapes have nothing to do with Yagga and the other Honorary Whites taking Apartheid South Africa's blood money. They would have been taped over long before that sordid episode.
In reply to solidrock
there was a company that sells cricket tapes, not sure if they are still around and what is available.

I have heard, but don't know if it is true, dat de geniuses over at CBC tape over de 302
In the last year of World Series Cricket Rowe was in very good touch and he made a 180 something that was a gem of an innings. Cozier run out of superlatives trying tuh describe it. I've seen it on YouTube but the quality is very poor. If you could get your hands on the WSC tapes you would see some glorious batting from LG. He scored a ton at Brisbane in the first test of that 75 tour Down Under...maybe that is still around. I am not very hopeful of ever seeing his knocks at home. Fortunately for me I saw all 302

Yeah, but JBC died long ago!

rightly so still they need digging up and investigating. our golden age was the 70's/ mid 80's, Donald Quarrie, Jimmy Cliff, Reggae Music, The Wailers, Merlene Ottey, Lawrence Rowe, Alan Skill Cole.. and we could go and go. Those archives of these legends and moments of our history, wiped just so?
