When will Trump’s Kool-Aid Drunks Learn?$

Trump and his Republican allies use them in their cultural wars around issues related to guns and the Bible, generating fear and hatred of others - liberals, immigrants, women, and, minorities, but when it comes to issues of the pocketbook, they are dumped in favour of the 1% every time.

Recall who benefited most from that big 2018 tax cut.

The GOP tax law showers benefits on the wealthy and large corporations while abandoning middle-class Americans and Main Street businesses.

GOP tax cut led to record $1 trillion in stock buybacks that do little for working Americans — The GOP tax cut delivered huge benefits to rich investors and CEOs through a record-setting $1 trillion in stock buybacks in 2018 – while average workers struggle to pay for rising health care and living costs.

Now, as then, here comes the pandemic economic package and the story is the same. Crumbs for the Hungry but Windfalls for the Rich. Billions are going to zillionaires under the guise of pandemic relief.

While President Trump and his allies in Congress seek to tighten access to food stamps, they are showing compassion for one group: zillionaires. Their economic rescue package quietly allocated $135 billion — yes, that’s “billion” with a “b” — for the likes of wealthy real estate developers.
My Times colleague Jesse Drucker notes that Trump himself, along with his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, may benefit financially from this provision. The fine print was mysteriously slipped into the March economic relief package, even though it has nothing to do with the coronavirus and offers retroactive tax breaks for periods long before Covid-19 arrived.

[/In other words, a single mom juggling two jobs gets a maximum $1,200 stimulus check — and then pays taxes so that a real estate mogul can receive $1.6 million. This is dog-eat-dog capitalism for struggling workers, and socialism for the rich.

When will those Kool-Aid Drunks and MAGA RedHatters learn? Never it seems, as they continue to vote against their economic interest, as long as they can “cling to their guns and the Bible”
