Tony Astaphan, attorney-at-law for former Cricket West Indies (CWI) president Dave Cameron, has taken exception to the appearance of what he termed a diminished sense of ‘collective responsibility’, considering some of the accusations levelled against his client in the recent audit report.

The financial report, which singled out Cameron for criticism on several occasions, was commissioned by the current CWI board and conducted by independent auditors Pannell Kerr Foster (PKF).  Among other things, it raised concerns regarding an inadequate accounting system that enabled financial irregularities to go unreported.

“If the auditor is in fact making so-called findings on matters that were dealt with by the board and they are so concerned about irregularities and abuses; the directors, including the present ones, from top to bottom, are going to have to come forward and explain their votes to the region and the shareholders,” Astaphan said on the Mason and Guest radio show.

It seems from the outside looking in that Cameron alone couldn't , as has been reported acted alone .

However when a Person is the leader of
any entity , that Person is more than likely to take most of the blame when things go awry .

This is precisely why my perspective
is that there must be a Completely new Entity in the governance of West Indies Cricket .

Obviously this must entail a completely new Structure , Rules &
Regulations . WE need to rid ourselves of the genesis of how
those who formed the WICBC /CWI believed and acted .

The fact is that the WICBC was formed
by wealthy persons who lived in the
Region , and were Plantation Owners ,
Buisness Owners ; and Wealthy Persons who due to their wealth formed not only Cricket Clubs , were also dominant in West Indies Cricket .

Indelibly etched in my mind is the
controversy that occurred regarding
making Sir Frank Worrell the Captain of the West Indies Team .

In my opinion , when those in the WICBC were of a different hue than
those who formed the WICBC , many of
them decided to mimic those who founded the WICBC .

They think of themselves as being not only above Our Players , but they , and they alone know what is best for
West Indies Cricket . In essence there is an invisible line between those in the governance of West Indies Cricket and Our Players .

In my opinion is that it is this utter Stupidity why WE are where WE are in International Cricket . I fear
that unless this B.S is stopped We will forever be like the Character in
Wonderland . Running very fast ; but
finding ourselves in the same freaking Place .

Perhaps if Players are accepted and represented on the Administration side of the WICBC , there would over
time harmony in West Indies Cricket .

However I aint about to hold my breath , what We currently have is a
classic case of :

" Monkey See Monkey Do ". To the
detriment of West Indies Cricket . Many of those in the Media subscribe
to this theory .

They view their mission to be totally
supportive of the WICBC/CWI , and be
very critical of the Players . THEY
must share some responsibility for the current state of West Indies Cricket .

Those in the Media will strenuously object to the fact that their hands are clean in this matter . However I seriously beg to differ ; because none of them was given the Information that was given to Michael Holding ; more than likely , the person who gave the information to Holding , more than likely did not Trust those in the Region who profess
to be Sports Journalists .

I sincerely hope that all those in the
Region who claim to be Sports Journalists reflect on this freaking Fact ; and stop paying homage to the WICBC/CWI . If they want to be fully
respected .
