Why would England have to worry about Thomas when he is not even in the official test squad?
Seem these writers are as careless as some of their Caribbean counterparts

Has the 15th member of the squad been confirmed ?
seems likely that Gabriel or another fast bowler would be included ... that fast bowler could be Oshane.
SCORE UPDATE:
Holders XI 98-4 (20 Overs)
Da Silva 52* (67 balls)
Moseley b Thomas 0
Ambris c Mindley b Holder 25
Blackwood c Campbell b Mindley 1
Bonner c Mayers b C. Holder 0
J. Holder 0* (2 balls)
Holder 5-0-15-2
Thomas 4-2-13-1
At least we have a Holder taking wickets
TEA TIME:
Holders XI 112-5 (25 Overs)
Da Silva 56* (80 balls)
Reifer 0* (7 balls)
C. Holder 5-0-15-2
Mindley 5-3-11-1
Phillip 3-1-8-1
Thomas 4-2-13-1
Brathwaites XI had a great first session, but Da Silva is standing strong for his team!
Blackwood and Bonner not giving her cause any chance
In reply to jacksprat
Oshane already abandoned. Now, if he were Bajan ...
Holders XI are 144-5 (30 Overs)
In reply to LBW375
I watched Phillips in the regional 4 day tournament, he was one of the pacers, I got my partner imusic to watch.
In reply to openning
Phillip is class, can swing it both ways as well, Would be handful in english conditions
In reply to Norm
This is a hasty and unnecessarily insular conclusion!
How has Oshane Thomas been abandoned?
He has never played test cricket-this being his first tour-but, as I recall,he still is a fixture in the limited overs setup.
BAD LIGHT:
Holders XI 120-5 (34 Overs)
Da Silva 60* (108 balls)
Ambris c Mindley b Holder 25
C. Holder 5-0-15-2
Phillip 6-3-9-1
Umpires will continue to assess
In reply to jacksprat
OK, he isn't abandoned. He made the reserves, despite being around years before some of the others, and having represented WI in other formats. Marvelous!
In reply to Norm
So he's an Anderson Cummings!
In reply to culpepperboy
The guys that played with Anderson liked him, he made sure that they got the right cut of the fees, he was their accountant on tour.
In reply to Str8_Drive
seems likely that Gabriel or another fast bowler would be included ... that fast bowler could be Oshane.
Is this series T10 or T20?
In reply to LBW375
De Silva doing OK,nobody say "dung heap" yet?
The lack of fitness and form of Holder could be a concern for the first Test, again today the report said he could have been out for another duck.
In reply to dayne
I am thinking that we might need to go into the first test without Holder playing???????????????????????????
In reply to dayne & solidrock
Tell us what you know of the form of players from England, seeing they just start practicing this week, and not naming a selected or reserve squad?
This is unusual for both teams, West Indies players have been together for a month, prior to the first test, let the series begin.
Lets see who has been working during pandemic.
In reply to solidrock
England is having it first practice game tomorrow,
Team Stokes vs Team Buttler.

England already named a thirty man squad about a week ago.
Concerned about Blackwood. Well need him in this series
Between Campbell Moseley and DaSilva the best opening option is DaSilva but now my Bajan countrymen gine say I talking Shiite and trying to curry favor with the rest.
Regional Tournament 2019
Moseley. 8 matches 490 runs@35.00. 1 century 2 fifties
Campbell. 8 matches. 491 runs @32.73. 2 centuries 1 fifty
DaSilva. 8 matches. 507 runs@50.70. 1 century 3 fifties
WARM UP MATCH: Light showers have held up proceedings here in Manchester after 2 balls on Day 3 of the 4-Day warm up match
Holders XI are on 122-5 (34.2 Overs) after winning the toss and deciding to bat first!
In reply to analyst-kid
DaSilva had a very good first class season and looks the part. I don't know of anyone who is not impressed with Da Silva. He would have been in my 15 considering the quality of the English pace attack and the shakiness of our openers.
In reply to analyst-kid
Does he open the batting in regional cricket?
Holders XI 152-5 (42 Overs)
Da Silva 75*
Reifer 14*
C. Holder 9-0-26-2
In reply to spider
No, he comes in at 3 or 4 I believe. One advantage of how this tour is organized is that everyone gets to play under real conditions. Unlikely that DaSilva could replace one of the incumbents but if he and Moseley can maintain their form from 2020, they may be a good back up opening pair/No. 3 batsmen, which is something that we have not had for a while.
In reply to LBW375
Blackwood trying hard to avoid being picked for the first Test....
In reply to VoopsandOut
He usually bats at #5, although he did open in at least one match. As the wicketeeper, I think #5 is appropriate. He as a very calm assured manner and I hope he can make it into the top 3.
In reply to mikesiva
Need to put him on the same practice team as Mindley.
In reply to analyst-kid
Kind of stats posted, get a player into the season Allstar game, an extra-ordinary season will get a player selected into a test squad.
Try 800 runs or more with three tons, or maybe a couple tons and a double.
I grew in a different era, where we look at the overall performance, who a batsman scored runs against, which teams the bowler got his wickets.
The is DaSilver first full season, leave the youngster to gain experience, playing for the A team.
CENTURY: Joshua Da Silva strokes a boundary to bring up his century!
After 63 overs, Holders XI are 196-6
Da Silva 102* (208 balls)
Joseph 1* (8 balls)
In reply to LBW375
Well how will Campbell respond to preserve his spot? He will play in the first Test but after that who knows.
In reply to dayne
You guys are being carried away because of the pandemic, the reserve are in the bubble, to replace a player, whose injury makes him unavailable for the series.
He has just replaced Ramdin on the T&T team.
Holder XI 261/7
Moseley b Thomas 0(1)
Da Silva 126*
Ambris c Mindley b Holder 25(46)
Blackwood c Campbell b Mindley 1(6)
Bonner c Campbell b C Holder 0(
J Holder c Brooks b Phillip 5(13)
Reifer c Harding b Cornwall 22(107)
Joseph b Harding 38(32)
Roach 1*
In reply to openning
Well I am not being carried away, it is just from following how the WI Selectors operate, I know they are going to push DaSilva like how they pushed Shai Hope, Chandrika, Marshall and Kyle Hope, they tend to select guys who look talented before they are experienced or developed.
In reply to dayne
This has been going on for almost 2-3 decades.
We just don't have the developmental or professional structure.
The county structure made our players better, the IPL and T20 league, made Broavo Gayle and others better.
You cannot stay in the region, play a dozen games a year, and be a world class batsman or bowler.
In reply to openning
Paintwhite plays tons of games in bca, did he become world beater?
In reply to bolls
Have you been under a rock?
The last great Barbadian batsman was Desmond Haynes, thats about 30 years ago.
Hope that answer your question.
In reply to LBW375
Talk about eating a boy food.. ( Campbell Bonner and Blackwood)..
Holders 11 Finish 272.all out
Da silva 133 Not out
INNINGS BREAK:
Holders XI finish on 272-a/o
Joshua Da Silva is the standout scoring 133* (249 balls)!
Preston McSween finishes strongly taking the last 3 wickets with figures of 10.5-2-28-3
Brathwaites XI to bat with Brathwaite and Campbell
Gabriel makes the breakthrough early into the Brathwaite XI innings.
Induces the edge of Campbell - who had earlier survived a strong lbw shout off Roach - and Holder pouched at second slip
Campbell out for 4 - 8/1
Holder takes the catch at the second attempt after Brathwaite miscues cut off Roach
Hope the latest to depart, inside edging Gabriel on to his stumps
Gabriel jubilant. Brathwaite XI now 9/3 under the lights
In reply to openning
I dont know about CAVEAGE. CAVEAGE era is already erased from world cricket. Talk about modern era greats if there are any from Barbados or WI.
Damn the test batting line up back in the hut already!
Kraigg
Campbell
Hope
Chase
Brooks
This tour gonna be embarrassing.. only our bowlers could save us from total embarrassment
In reply to anthonyp
anyone can let me know the close of play score? We need our bowlers to be in form, esp. JHo. I dread to think of Kraigg captaining us in a test ever again.
In reply to VoopsandOut
Last score was 49-5
In reply to anthonyp
how often will they have 150 to work with?
In reply to camos
Holder form is worrying.. Was hoping for he and Dowrich to save us.
Don't expect much from Kraigg, Campbell and Brooks.. Hope might get some runs, he definitely got the talent... Chase will give us his usual 30-40 and throw away his wicket.
Gonna be ah hard series for our batsmen.. hopefully they prove me wrong and score 300+ consistently.. it that happens we stand a chance.
The English bowlers must be salivating, I would not be surprise if a recording of the days play is being reviewed by the English coaching staff, Anderson might be looking up the record book to see which record is within reach.
In reply to openning
Wondering if your sentiments would be the same if he was a bajan.
I making note of all the doubting thomases.
Holder's XI run rampant today!
Brathwaites XI 49/5 (16 ovs)
Brathwaite XI 112 for 7 trail Holder XI 272 (Da Silva 133*) by 160 runs
In reply to LBW375
Who at the wicket?
In reply to natty_forever
It takes an insular individual, to assume another is insular.
Fidel Edwards was fast and fit, I labelled him a net bowler.
Jason Holder took a wicket in his first over of the England tour while Shannon Gabriel also shone on the penultimate day of the West Indies' final intra-squad match before next week's first #raisethebat Test.
Report
In reply to natty_forever
Kyle Mayers 40*
Anderson Phillip went late in the day to Gabriel (3-34)
Scorecard not up yet
In reply to LBW375
No Dowrich?
In reply to natty_forever
Ask Phil nah !
In reply to LBW375
I thought I was.
In reply to LBW375
Was these games played under lights, and will any of the test matches, be day night games?
Mayers amongst the runs again.. still can't understand how some other players made the squad ahead of him.. wasn't he one of the top performers in the last PCL? Scored about 3-4 tons
Da Silva, Mayers and Gabriel need to be in the squad..
In reply to natty_forever
Put me down as Chief Thomas .... dis team can't last 4 days
In reply to openning
Clatter of wickets with lights on
In reply to Kay
Noted.
Brathwaites XI are currently on 145-8 (30 overs)
Mayers 62* (50 balls)
Harding 10* (16 balls)
Play started at 12PM today, due to a few light showers
Mayers batting at better than a run a ball
IPL audition ?
Gabriel with 4 wickets.
Holder XI will most likely bat again after Lunch.
In reply to LBW375
any update on score?
In reply to VoopsandOut
108 for 3
Bonner 36
Da silva 13
Bonner & Da Silva continue grow to their partnership for Holder's XI.
They lead by 272 runs.
Holder's XI 108/3 (32 ov)
Bonner 36(76 balls)
Da Silva 13 (28 balls)
Busy....
In reply to LBW375
Do you have the name and score of batsmen out ?
In reply to soloview
No
Updates have been patchy
Joshua Da Silva followed up his century in the first innings with 56* in the second dig
That's 189 runs in the match without being dismissed but it won't be enough to earn call-up to Test squad
In reply to LBW375

Says who? Wait and see.
The team needs another warm-up game, everyone is not awake yet.

??
In reply to LBW375
he should get into this team immediately!
He will get his chance eventually. Selectors have to save face.
In reply to camos
Only Gabriel brought in
In reply to WIForever
Even though 14 players was selected, allyuh still assume the selected squad will be replace after prior to the first test.
It never worked like that before, because teams always have replacement player, these replacements are usually in the region.
From the outset, Gabriel fitness was the reason for him not in the original 15.
In reply to LBW375
Remember Winston Davis playing for the West Indies in that 1984 whitewash series in England superseding Courtney Walsh who was in the touring squad. Mr Davis was in England playing county cricket for Glamorgan and was drafted in to play a test match in that series.
Remember Jeff Dujon making his debut for the West Indies as a specialist bat even though he was in the touring squad as the reserve keeper to David Murray.
So it's possible. Hope they select him to bat in the #6 slot in the upcoming test match next week.
In reply to Raggs
Notice I posted it in quotes ?
But my own opinion isn't far off. He will eventually get his chance.
In reply to openning
Eventually is the key word.
In reply to LBW375
ok boss.my bad.
In reply to openning
Now the replacements are right there in the bubble .... big difference
In reply to Kay
This is the first time, a reserve squad was name, teams always have reserves, the difference is covid-19.
The only mention to join the squad, when it was announce is Gabriel, he is now added to the 15 men test team.
Reserves may be added, if a selected player get injured or was sent home, and can no longer play in the series.
In 1957 Wes Hall sat out all five test, even though he was playing against the county teams.
In between test matches there was numerous games played, by the touring teams.
In reply to openning
This is the XI I expect the selectors to name for the 1st test
Brathwaite
Campbell
Brooks
Hope
Chase
Dowrich
Holder
Cornwall
Roach
Joseph
Gabriel
In reply to imusic
Thats the best XI.
WI gonna be 3-4 down for less than 50 for most of the series.. I expect Roach to score more runs than some of the top order batsmen..
In reply to anthonyp
Brooks may provide the occasional bright spot at the top. He is organised and patient, without merely blocking. The moving ball will undo the others, except dour Shai at times.
So, it will be a serious struggle for WI.
