HEADLINE: West Indies to Remain Unchanged for Decider?

CaribbeanCricket.com 2020-07-23 14:21:46

A draw will be enough for the West Indies to retain the Wisden Trophy when the Caribbean side squares off with England in the final of their three-match Test series beginning on Friday morning in Manchester. Holder’s men, however, will be hoping for more, in the form of forty more points to add to their current ICC World Test Championship tally of the same amount and a potential move to 6th on the nine-team standing.

Already an uphill task, injuries might force the West Indies to go into the game upsetting the seam attack that has accounted for fifty-six (56) of a possible eighty (80) wickets in the four Tests in which they’ve all featured. Yet bowling coach Roddy Estwick has insisted that the injuries sustained by pacers Shannon Gabriel and Alzarri Joseph, in the second Test match, are not “major”.

“[Gabriel’s] an experienced player now, and we’ve got to make sure that he gets the right rest and gets his treatment in or whatever he needs to make sure he’s on the park on Friday,” Estwick said.

Well that would be very risky if the WI goes into the Test with the same team that played in the first two Test, if the coaches have not noticed, Gabriel usually give a good first spell, without pain, but after that he usually goes physically downhill. Why take that risk again, it put pressure on the other bowlers. They also have to make a decision about Hope and Campbell, both should not play, it put pressure on the other batsmen when they do not contribute.

I know this forum is primarily about Caribbean cricket, but I have to take the opportunity to comment on the Archer suspension. There got to be something wrong with our people. Jofra Archer, the only black member of the England squad, has to be the one to make a fool of himself and break the Covid-19 rule and got himself suspended. When we see something like this, should we wonder why other races see our race as lacking the intelligence to behave like normal human beings? What Archer did just lend credence to the argument of the racist that we are ungovernable. I am very disappointed and ashamed.

Archer is an individual who did something stupid...and has since apologised and was punished.

That is no more reflection on me than Flintoff or Stokes stupidity is on all white people

My friend methinks it is you who are perpetuating the stereotyping.

Are you really as stupid as you appear?

Your statement is unbelievably idiotic, offensive, and lacking in logic. When Stokes got himself suspended under the shadow of a criminal matter, did you also wonder "why other races see his race as lacking the intelligence to behave like normal human beings?" rolleyes evil

Always looking for excuses for stupid behavior. "This other guy did it, so why not us". Whether you believe it or not, we have a steeper hill to climb, considering where we are starting from and how we are generally seen in the world. Let us stop giving the ignorant reasons to point to us as proof of their ignorant opinions and ideas.

Very "intelligent" reasoning. Proving my point.

We should make at least two changes
