Brutal death hitting from Darren Bravo and Kieron Pollard saw the Trinbago Knight Riders post the highest score of Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2020, and though Johnson Charles gave the Barbados Tridents a chance, once he fell the spinners took firm control and extended the Knight Riders’ unbeaten start to this year’s tournament.

Choosing to bowl, the Tridents started well - the first boundary didn’t come until the third over, and Narine didn’t get off the mark until the fifth. Simmons hit the next ball for a Hero Maximum and then clubbed Jason Holder to mid-on. It took Colin Munro to kickstart the innings, taking 18 off Kyle Mayers including a glorious flick over mid-on for six, and the Knight Riders ended the Powerplay at 45/1.

Ashley Nurse put the pressure back on, but Munro counter-attacked against Rashid Khan, clobbering a sweep into the stands. Narine at the other end should have fallen to Nurse on 6 but was dropped by Shai Hope. The drop was not costly however, as Reifer dramatically splattered Narine’s stumps to end a stuttering innings.

Trinidad is the winner! Why don't we just go ahead and make this declaration?! Based on the kind of umpiring, it just looks like the fix is in again. These umpires seem to think that they are working on behalf of Trinidad. Year after year is the same thing. Trinidad batters do not get out leg before. Trinidad bowlers do not bowl no balls and wides. Trinidad bowlers just have to get the ball to touch a batter and right away the finger goes up. These "umpires" are killing the CPL. I really do not find these CPL games interesting anymore because the results are so predicable. You can't just beat Trinidad, you have to pulverize them. That's the only way these so-called umpires will allow you to win.

The Trident need a fast bowler, who can get a few lifting deliveries into Pollard's ribs.
I was hoping as I watched the match, Jason would had bowled around the wicket, and target his ribs.

guess the results weren't predictable last year when we gave somebody else a chance? the results were predictable in the Caribbean T20 which the CPL remained and we won 3 of the four tournaments. de rest of teams are just sub standard

The only reason Trinidad won 5 of the 7 Caribbean T20 tournaments prior to the advent of CPL is because of the umpires.

The umpires even made it to the final of the Airtrl CT20 world championship too

Of course you have to occasionally give someone else a chance so as to not make it too obvious. And as I've said, if it's close when you play against Trinidad, you don't stand a chance. And, by the way, I am not blaming Trinidad. My argument is not against them. It's the umpires who are either incompetent or there's something else going on. The "umpires" are taking full advantage of the "no challenge" system. When a challenge system is instituted, the competition will be much more interesting and fair.

BTW, you cannot go into a T20 match, playing 4 day cricket.
Every match the Trident have played so far, the number of dot balls is like an opening day of a test match.

Most of the time its never close. Last year it was close in the knockout with barbados and we lost. We destroyed warriors in the 2018 final, was lucky to have ben hilfenhaus bowl an atrocious 17th over that kevin cooper hit for 20(not the umpires). Those are the only close t20 matches involving TKR, Red Steel or the Red force. The caribbean t20 became more uncompetetive as the editions went on because the other territories failed to(and have failed to) keep up with us.

i doubt he said that but if he did, then that is rather disingenuous coming from a territory famed for time wasting and time wasters

it cant be now.....yes we win a few tests away to pakistan and england......the current WI team could not win a test in england against that england side. England has gotten worse, not WI has gotten better. The england side the WI played in 2012 had whitewashed india the previous summer and would beat india in india later that year. This WI team( that apparently is the best since the 80s according to eastwick) could not win a test in england versus that english side

Love how d entire TKR team playing. Hopefully they keep the momentum, stay focus and stay discipline for the entire tournament
