Too much riffraff being allowed to wantonly post insults and trash in both forums, especially in the Rum Shop. Some of you witnessed the demise of this board's predecessor and similar boards such as soc.culture.caribbean, rec.sports.cricket.
"Big" posters are posting less and less - a very bad sign for a place like this. Those who value this board need to help to reduce the insults and trash. Otherwise, it would not be long before the board becomes yet another internet graveyard.

It's been about fifteen years i stopped posting in the Rum Shop after making a similar plea as you.
My guess is it's only gotten worse.
This room aint much better ... people think it's more beneficial to post lies and fabrications to seem important than anything real and substantial.

Sorry to hear. I hardly feel inspired to put much effort into posting anything substantial in the Rum Shop these days. It is truly hard to imagine why the admins are not banning some very obvious destructive elements there.

As I said, guys like Black, Casper, Ayenmol and a few others keep this place going. I particularly enjoy Ayenmol's religious and sports interests and insights.
Many here in the Back Room still contribute well to the right topics, but the Rum Shop is a much different story. It is just a very small handful that contributes anything of value there. Openning is one of the few.

Very true. And even Ryan (Shopkeeper), one of the founders, gave up on this board. I use to have this board as one of my main site to check into everyday, but now, I cringe doing it..
It has decayed into filt by posters who flaunt their vulgarity for their waving supporters to consume their filt and crave for more.
Gone R the posters to whom we could have lively discussions and banter with.
