Well let me ask the same question, I have been asking for the last couple years? How you feel about the so called land of democracy and model for fairness and equal rights this morning?
You know my answer. Its the same for the last four years, and its getting more difficult for many to disagree with me about America's decline

How you feel about America now?
Its great. I will be more proud if they kick those druggie skunts arses and send them to their basements.

I have a more poor opinion of America now than I had before. This and the last Elections exposed the true nature of a high percentage of American people, they are on the same level as the people of many Third World countries

Am not sure what you and a few well known anti-American types are whining about here.
The US political process? That continues to be as robust and functional as ever.
The state of democracy in the US? People could still vote out the most powerful politician in the country if they want to. We are seeing that right now. And, people could protest while elections are in progress.
So, what are you whining about?
While you think about that, show us a better democracy out there, and show us a better defender of democracy than the US in this world.

I can add about ten more countries to your list
In reply to VIX
I said "better". None of those are "better" democracies than the US, especially not Spain, Uruguay and a few others. Ask the Catalonians what they think of Spanish democracy, for example.
Don't waste my time with unsupported assertions, because i will simply counter assert.
Which one of those ever goes out beyond their territories and defends the democracies of others?
In reply to problemjay and Vix
Yep, laugh away, because I don't see anything more from you and Vix!!!
If all those countries all you listed had better democracies than the US, their people would have stayed at home and not migrated to the US in huge droves. Go down your huge list and see which ones do not migrate to the US in droves!
You and Vix are just a big mouth empty barrels, who think that noise and long meaningless lists will scare or overwhelm others.
Of course, even attempting to discuss civilly something with all you self-ordained "democrat lovers" quickly degenerates into dutty gutter talk, but I am used to that here. So, carry on however all you like.

In fact for most of those countries their people have better quality of living than the US. You probably think this is your native Guyana where people have been migrating to the US in large numbers
Can you provide any support to your claim that proves US is a better democracy than those countries? Or you just said it because its the popular American thing to say?
In reply to Runs
Thanks, cuz.
Nothing but endless elections noise here. Some folk are nervous, no doubt, but many are just deeply disillusioned or insecure individuals. Incidentally, those are exactly the types that fall prey to the likes of Trump, and a few very infamous names in history.
Yes-man Runs says yes.
In reply to TriniStar
I need to support nothing. You are the ones whining and trying to tear down the US.
The US immigrant population is testimony enough about what the world thinks about US democracy. Check those European countries to see which ones the immigrants are flocking to, and you will have your answers about which ones are the better democracies.
US democracy needs no endorsement from anyone, except from US citizens.

For all its flaws, America is still a great country. No country is perfect.
Democracy is still alive, but not perfect in America. The greatest of America's democracy is evident in this election, in that it continues to withstand and take care of the anomalies that threaten it. It has taken care of a major one in the person of Donald J. Trump.
Furthermore, contrary to what many conservatives and those on the Right may want to say, America is a strong Centre-Left country. I dare anyone to say otherwise.

How do you place someone like me? I think I am quite conservative, but I tend to vote liberal. For me, a Moderate is one who's some days conservative, the next day liberal.
The majority of Americans vote Democratic consistently, when you add up all of them, I think that pendulum is swinging more to the left of center than right of centre.

I cannot see a democracy as vibrant when you are only afforded 2 real options (yes I know that you can choose other candidates but you really can only get either a democrat or republican at higher levels of representation). I like the overall structure of the federal nature of US politics (For instance I hate Kamla but wanted Sadam to win in my constituency but because a vote for Sadam is a vote for Kamla I didn't vote for Kamla).
Anyhow to pull back from m side track. Democracy is shit. Everyone should not be allowed to vote. Democracy allows people like Trump to get elected.

I am not purporting to suggest that America is all good --- but which democracy outshines the US achievements --- Rome and Greece, the two most prominent ancient democracies had their decline --- America is governed by flawed people --- but are they more fcked up than all other nationalities --- Rupert Murdoch, owner of FOX network is an Australian immigrant, Steven Miller, the architect of caging kids at the southern border is of Eastern Europe extraction --- so America good and evil emanates from Fcked-up immigrants --- I know you and vix understand this, but you all seem to portray Americans as uniquely evil, when the only true American is the native American Indians - so there

In reply to Jabari18 That is a tremendous answer ---but as they say you can take the horse to the water but you cant force them to drink. America has more or less done what is expected of its power transition 44 times in 240 years, not a bad record. To use a sport analogy even Babe Ruth struck-out a few times and the great Don Bradman made a duck or two in his career. --- --- politics is not physics --- some metaphysical guardrails are in the US constitution, but trump and his tribes have stress tested and expose their vulnerabilities, so far they seem like they may not all break ..
In reply to birdseye
Do you have hope that these guardrails will be reinforced in such a way to even prevent them from getting tested at this level?
You see if you followed all I said from the beginning it's worrying that 70M+ ppl saw all that Trump had to offer and rushed to vote for him a second time. Also his supporters are scarily loyal. The level of loyalty reserved for Nazis and ISIS. No new information changed their perspectives on him. It made them stronger in their belief. So we have a dozen American lawmakers in the senate and more in the house of reps who will not confirm Biden as American President. This indicates that they believe the election was not legit and Biden stole the election. A view held by millions of Americans regardless of it not being supported by any facts. So clearly this is happening in a country who tells the world they are the the shining star for an advanced democracy.
America is returning to what it always was, in the early days the "founding fathers" would sign a contract or make an agreement with the Natives and as soon as the Natives turn to go their way some of the "founding fathers" would rip the contract up and shoot the person in the back. That's what happening now, fair Elections, what fair Elections?

Man, you are so blind, you cannot see that you are mocking yourself.
We prefer to become "unwelcome immigrants" than to remain among the likes of you, who have no self-respect and no common sense.
Everything of value that was ever left in your hands, by foreigners and your ancestors, continue to deteriorate, from physical to social infrastructure, to cricket. Whatever little luck you have, like oil, becomes a source of great corruption and division among your people.
So, if it gives you some form of depraved pleasure to call some of your own brothers "unwelcome immigrants", then knock yourself out.
You are not even worth much of an argument. The whole world just looks at how thoroughly you screwed your cricket, the one thing you vcer did right, and laugh at you!!!

You and your smug supercilious ilk believe that by merely being unwelcome immigrants in murika, you're instantly superior to lowly Caribbean residents.
Continue to big up "your" great orange democratic country while the rest of the world laughs at it.
And you should be very proud! The last few years have shown there's NO corruption and definitely NO division in Great Murca!
One great big perfect united #murca
I cant keep up with murca's democracy.
Its overwhelming. A few days before his term is up and they wanna get rid of pooorrr innocent humble Trump
A very interesting article about the day
This is not America, a woman said to a small group, her voice shaking. She was crying, hysterical. Theyre shooting at us. Theyre supposed to shoot BLM, but theyre shooting the patriots.
Still the greatest country, without her institutions to check a rogue president she would have sunk into dictatorship. No other nation on earth has the ability to withstand a fella like this president and still remain strong and democratic.
I am proud to call it my home.

Strong and democratic??
Fully half of murca believe the elections were stolen.
You think that minor incident at the Capitol was the worst of it??
Think again! That was only the beginning.
Them Russians and Chinese will take full advantage of the division.
There will be blood on the streets. Anarchy will reign in the cities. The army will be shooting at civilians.
Watch allyuh back!
You unwelcome immigrants will be bawling to come HOME to the caribbean soon enough!!

Its all entertainment! The ultimate reality TV- watching crazy trump expose murica for what its always been!
Pass popcorn
They're all corrupted crooks! Trump, Clinton all their associates. Its fantastic watching the carefully constructed fake US facade being demolished by the great orange man.

Where do you stand on the principles of Jesus? - for his believers, he came with the best of intentions for humanity as a whole, and what happened to him? --- A few evil people crucified him. But have society given up on Jesus and his principles? Tell us .. Have you given up on Jesus because of some charlatans who vilify and kill him and try to kill his plans --- maybe you have, or you were never a believer

Cant rewrite history
Too many numbskulls saying this is not America to try and erase that it happened
Racist, divided, greedy, dog-eat-dog society.
Was always like that.
In reply to birdseye
Grow up man. There's no god.

I bought and read a copy of the US constitution a couple years and I must say those sons of bitches who came up with that document were some smart dudes .. the fact that the society cant live-up to the principles is on us and not the ethos of that document
In reply to birdseye
They were so smart and penned such great specificity and displayed foresight that any damn fool can interpret the constitution any way they like. So much so that idiots think in 2021 they can overthrow the government using bearskins and muskets
Smart dudes indeed!
In reply to birdseye
Yes, those slave owning founding fathers were smart dudes indeed.
So principled and ethical those massa were.
In reply to birdseye
I don't think myself or guys like Vix were speaking about the "ideal american society". We were speaking about America as it is.By the same token just about every country can tout themselves as being the greatest. N Korea have had more smooth transition of power than the US
In reply to Halliwell
At some point in time they have to admit that this is who they are so they can try and heal and move forward. Denying it not helping

Interesting analogy but quite different from the American thinking that every American is one of Gods children building a custom-made utopia, each free to reinvent himself by imagination and will.
In reply to birdseye
William Cohen ex Bush Defense Secy just refuted that and said it is untrue, also all men are not created equal or in other words those words are hollow.
In reply to Halliwell
No it is when dishonest people try to abuse it and are not held accountable due to political tribalism. Nothing is wrong with the document.
Show just getting started in America
Troops from the National Guard were seen sleeping near a bust of Abraham Lincoln
So robust, so functional!
#murca
Members of Congress fear for their lives and security
So strong, so democratic!
Well America is experiencing the Trump's Touch, it is well documented that everything Trump touches eventually turns to junk. The people who always swear by and worship the constitution are the first ones to totally violate and disrespect it.
In reply to dayne
Junk country and will continue to be after January 20 .

A prediction from someone who claimed the Democrats has no one to beat Trump....
Where's poor Norm when he's needed to defend his great kuntry against backward caribbean folk?
