"Take Jah Sun and Jah Moon and Jah Stars and forever erase your fantasy, yeah". Stiff Necked fools. Took some liberties perhaps with lyrics but that resonated with me.

Ok: Check it brethren and sistren

Stiff-necked fools, you think you are cool
To deny me for simplicity.
Yes, you have gone for so long
With your love for vanity now.
Yes, you have got the wrong interpretation
Mixed up with vain imagination.
So take Jah Sun, and Jah Moon,
And Jah Rain, and Jah Stars,
And forever, yes, erase your fantasy, yea-eah!
The lips of the righteous teach many,
But fools die for want of wisdom.
The rich man's wealth is in his city;
The righteous' wealth is in his Holy Place.
So take Jah Sun, and Jah Moon,
And Jah Rain, and Jah Stars,
And forever, yes, erase your fantasy, yeah!
Destruction of the poor is in their poverty;
Destruction of the soul is vanity, yeah!
So stiff-necked fools, you think you are cool
To deny me for simplicity, yea-ea-eah!
Yes, you have gone - gone for so long
With your love for vanity now.
But I don't want to rule ya!
I don't want to fool ya!
I don't want to school ya:
Things you - you might never know about!
Yes, you have got the wrong interpretation
Mixed up with vain - vain imagination:
Stiff-necked fools, you think you are cool
To deny me for, o-ooh, simplicity.

Hug dat!
cool cool cool

At the top of the list. My list, anyway.

VIX 2020-11-20 14:01:56

It varies from day to day.

Today its Coming in from the cold.

Yesterday it was Concrete Jungle

Tomorrow who knows?

Kaya has always been a favourite.

Raggs 2020-11-20 14:10:27

Any list without the track " So Jah Seh" from the Natty Dread albums on it needs investigating for fraud.

I’d been trying to come up with my Top 10 Marley for a long time. But found it impossible. So Top 30 is very generous. But still I had to chop and change to get to the following.
Not in order of preference, though Kaya is probably #1, and those in the top half are probably preferred over the rest.

Kaya
Jah Live
So Much Trouble
Mix Up Mix Up
Jump Nyabinghi
Forever Loving Jah
So Much Things To Say
Bad Card
Duppy Conqueror
Misty Morning
Chant Down Babylon
Zion Train
Natty Dread
Concrete Jungle
One Drop
Blackman Redemption
She’s Gone
Guiltiness
One Love
Zimbabwe
Trench Town Rock

Could You Be Loved
Turn Your Lights Down Low
No Woman No Cry
Natural Mystic
Coming In From The Cold
Three Little Birds
Waiting In Vain
Ride Natty Ride

One that doesn't make a list right off the bat, often, is HEATHEN.

Watching live version right now, guitar licks and all, wicked!

wow..I didnt even realize this thread was here.

I spent the last two days listening to BOB.

really appreciating his leaning in on the WORD in several of his songs and singing it better and more effective and impactful than many Gospel Artists could.

Well said. The content, how it's put together and effectiveness of message. The Trifecta.

Love everything Bob sang.

The Yankee dem seem to love playing "Three Little Birds" over and over.

My fav are:
One Love
Concrete Jungle
Who the cap fit.

analyst-kid 2020-11-22 16:08:18

One Love was voted Song of the 20th century by the BBC

It has to be ranked in a Top Ten.

One has to also take into consideration the international legendary hits

analyst-kid 2020-11-22 16:09:19

In reply to DukeStreet

Three Little Birds ( Don’t worry) is a huge international hit.

analyst-kid 2020-11-22 16:12:47

This guy has passed near 40 years now and still many songs are still resonating internationally ...a top 50 would be an easy pick starting with the international hits.

An artist that reaches deep inside usually produces something of value.
