The grift must go on....

SnoopDog 2020-11-24 20:31:08

For just the price of a cup of coffee, you too can help a rich Dotard receive life saving lawyers fees, more golf at Mar-a-lago, and future book deals.

Immediately after the Nov. 3 election, people on Trump mailing lists began getting emails pleading for donations to fund recounts or to help with something called the “Official Election Defense Fund.” That fund’s website shouts, “THE DEMOCRATS WANT TO STEAL THIS ELECTION!” and “We can’t allow the Left-wing MOB to undermine our Election.”

Of course, the website’s fine print shows just how swiftly Trumpian grifters part fools from their money: 75% of each donation, up to $5,000, goes first to a Trump political action committee called “Save America.” Only after meeting that $5,000 threshold does a dime from the 75% cut make it to a so-called recount account. The remaining 25% of each donation goes to the Republican National Committee. Put more simply, if you donate $100, no money goes to the election fund while $75 goes to Trump’s PAC and $25 goes to the RNC. You would have to donate about $6,667 before any money would go to the election account, and even then it would only 25 cents.

The New York Times first reported on the “Save America” PAC, quoting Brendan M. Fischer, an attorney at a watchdog group called the Campaign Legal Center: “Small donors who give thinking they’re helping to defend the integrity of our election are in fact largely helping to finance Trump’s post-presidential political ventures.”

Trump can use his PAC to pay for travel, polling and for his own post-presidency political team.

We wouldn’t want Donald Jr., Eric or Ivanka to go hungry, would we?

This sounds better than the email I received yesterday about an inheritance.

You mean to say you're lucky enough to have a Nigerian Prince cousin who recently died intestate and his lawyer wants to give you all of the $5,000,000.00 USD tied up in a bank account in exchange for a small fee of $20,000.00 to cover legal fess and disbursements?

Years down the road, after the embarrassment of it all is forgotten, we will read a few stories about how the light bulbs in the head of a few Trump voters, automatically switched to a stack of LED's when they mistakenly hovered above the fine Print of that PAC in light of an investigation into Trump Campaign fraud. What we wont hear is the explosion of their heads when they figure out, just like the typical scammer, he stole and came back for more even when the gig was up. It wont be pretty for a few.

The Dotard knows he's the leader of a cult.

And like all the great cult leaders of the past and present he intends to fleece his followers for everything they have. The Dotard isn't doing anything those Televangelist con artist preachers don't do, or anything Jim Jones didn't do.

When you have literally millions of people who will set aside the rational part of their brains and listen to everything you say, and do everything you ask of them (without question), a great and experienced con artist like the Dotard will take full advantage of that opportunity.

The hard part going forward will be getting people who were once nice, decent, and rational thinking to leave the Dotard's cult.

This may very well be true today, but I think this is a symptom of serious economic and social issues being experienced by those seeing Trump as a worthwhile leader. Those issues would keep on creating armies and armies of future "Trump" followers, unless the US starts to do something meaningful about it.

In all honesty, what good comes from the GOP or the conservative side of politics?

All they stand for -- really stand for -- is fear, lies, and faux patriotic and "Christian" propaganda aimed at manipulation and conning millions into voting against their own interests.

I've never seen their party push for decency, helping one another, bringing people together, civility, voter participation, protecting our resources or environment, helping the poor, or any national pushes to raise money to help those who need help the most.

All their groups do is raise money to push more hate, more fear, more division, more faux, flag-waving bullshit that, at the root of is, is completely hollow.

The entire right-wing movement is one giant con perpetuated by frauds who rely on the ignorance, gullibility, and, quite frankly, the flat-out stupidity of those supporting and backing them.

Yes, I've heard this point being made before.

To that I'll say that whatever grievances people might have (perceived or real), the answer is not, nor should it ever be the Dotard, or extreme populism. Extreme right wing populism rarely if ever works or is the answer. It didn't work out for Germans or the Italians in the 1940's and it's not going to work out for Americans at his present time.

Americans these days who rant about the rise of China as a superpower certainly don't rant about or complain about the low prices they pay for consumer electronics and other mass produced consumer goods manufactured in China which they use in their daily lives. For years they voted for Republicans governments that gutted labour unions and provided massive tax cuts to corporations who had moved their manufacturing to China, Mexico and elsewhere to exploit cheap labour.

They want to suck and blow at the same time. It's that feeling of entitlement that because they are Americans they have a right to certain things.

Then you have the right wing propaganda machine which have bombarded White middle class and rural Americans for decades telling them that they are not responsible for their own problems. The 'deep state', immigrants, and the 'socialists' are the reason why they pay taxes while corporations and immigrants get all the breaks.

And so entered a career con man who saw an opportunity to swindle so many and with so little effort.

That pretty much sums it up.

Thank you, Snoopy, for that most eloquent expression of the ills that plague the Americans.

My attempt at expressing the same was met by SangVoid calling me an "Idiot". Some posters even cheered.
