The West Indies team is the only team that cannot find people to represent them due to T20 cricket. While all other cricketing nations are able to have their best cricketers representing them when they play against other countries, the West Indies always have to field a third eleven team. This is so because these West Indian cricketers lack pride and patriotism and do not see any value in representing their country. They find all kinds of lying excuses as to why they are not available. All these greedy, prideless guys are concerned about is the almighty dollar. If they had an ounce of pride, they, as cricketers from other countries do, would play their T20 all over the world and make their money, but still represent the West Indies. But, that would cause them to lose some of their dollars. Pride and patriotism have no meaning and can never compete against the almighty dollar. I can just imagine the laughing stocks they are among other teams around the world. My advice to the West Indies is: When these shameless clowns are washed up and find themselves rejected by these T20 teams around the world, they will come back to the West Indies with their tails between their legs, begging for a place on the West Indies team. Tell them to go to hell and enjoy their dollars there!

So, maybe West Indies should get out of cricket. Stop the humiliation of the West Indian people. When you watch Willow (Cricket channel in the USA) and see that they opt to carry women's cricket or play highlights over and over rather than carry the West Indies tour of New Zealand, that should tell you something about how low we have fallen. We are a far way behind eight ball. First, these days we produce very few cricketers with talent, not to mention brains. And the few who have some ability will not make themselves available. So, I agree with you, it will get worse. That a reflection on our people. So, the best thing is to just give it up.

Russell will always be a footnote in WI cricket history. He has done fuck all really, for WI cricket. He is basically earning a living with the skills that he has, and no one, me included, should stand in his way. More power to you bro.

I would disagree somewhat. You may be operating under the assumption that Windies cricket is managed as efficiently as other nations with larger budgets and more expansive FC structures. I don't believe so.

True for some of the players.



It's their immense collective talents that are in high demand. What we're asking them to do is minimize their earning potential for the sake of loyalty to West Indies. Unfortunately they are not willing to do that. I can't say that I blame them especially considering many of them come from humble beginnings.

Well, what this means is that West Indies cricket will never come out of the doldrums. T20 cricket is here to stay. And based on the economic conditions of the Caribbean, most of our cricketers will continue to come from humble beginnings, way into the future. So, unless we drastically adjust our tastes and expectations, the only solution is for the West Indies to forget about cricket as a team affair. Let these guys individually learn their craft in their backyards with their brothers, sisters, cousins and friends, then go and bid on the open T20 market.
By the way, I don't think the West Indies is the most impoverished cricketing nation. But maybe we are the most selfish, greedy and lacking in pride. Maybe it's about the geography of the Caribbean. We are the only team made up of people from different little islands/subcultures, filled with insularity and tribalistic mentalities.
I am truly pessimistic about the future of West Indies cricket. So sad.

In reply to rhatid Boss, ESPN have the New Zealand cricket under contract.Up to couple years ago the NZ tests were free on ESPN. It follows that willow would not be able to show NZ cricket in the USA.
