That was a very good draw from a depleted India

One of the great fightbacks.
This is a tough team.
In reply to Verstehen
Seems to do better without Kohli.

I was pleasantly surprised. A friend called me after Pant missed out on his well deserved ton and I said it was over and then when Pujara fell, I literally gave up.
That was amazing. There is nothing like test cricket.

And at no stage was it boring or already decided (except maybe the lat 2/3 overs on Day 5). The tension as a fan was almost unbearable.
In reply to Verstehen
Nice to see
Almost feels like yesteryear where its only dedicated serious cricketers concentrating and applying themselves
Was a solid performance

So far this is one of the great tours for India in my memory.
Over the series we have lost the Captain and our star bat (Kohli, after the first Test) did not have 2 frontline bowlers (Ishant, Bhuvneshwar) as they were injured before the series, lost two key bowlers halfway through (Shami, Yadav), and now an all rounder (Jadeja).
That's SIX of our A team gone, and if Vihari also goes it will SEVEN in the next Test.
Then, a fantastic backup player KL Rahul is also gone due to injury.
The performances speak volumes. we came back after that crazy humiliating 36 all out of the first Test to win the second. And get a fantastic rearguard action to get draw in the third when all the chips were down.
TWO bowlers were given their caps (Siraj, Saini), and now we're down to almost zero, but everyone showed up. India's pace bowling stocks are solid- who would have thought it?
So far it has been some series and I'm proud of how we've played.
You all behaving as though Australian doesnt have a few new players in Wade, Pucovski and Green! Plus Warner is just coming back from injury! Starc hasnt exactly been penetrating as of late. So, Australian is not an overwhelming favorite.

Shut you rass bhai....think home and away... you have to give India credit at least this one time for drawing this test...all because Pant decide to take it to Ass(ies)
In reply to StumpCam
Mathew Wade made his Test debut in 2012.
That's saying we lost because we didn't play well. So what?
In reply to Verstehen
Usually that's when you lose. And how you play, was influenced by the opposition in some way.
In reply to Chrissy
I agree. They fought like mongrels. If Pakistan fought in Australia the way India fought Australia today, they would have won a series there by now
In reply to Jumpstart
Pakistan always fight
among themselves..
SportsMax is replaying the last day now
In reply to Chrissy
Now it seems Bumrah gone too.

A good solid test team has these trait:
1. Solid and capable bench strength
2. Multiple team leaders
3. Professional attitiude
India has all 3 and then some.
Notice of Siraj came in and he hardly looked like a debutant, this shoes hoe much improvement India's domestic structure has made over the years, that your bench strength can come in and perform right away
Leadership: Ashwin, Pujara, Rahane, Rohit - all (better)bleaders in the team, so they were able to meet the challenges despite the loss of the excellent batter Kohli.
Finally, India's test team is playing like the richest team in the history of cricket- the investment is professionalism, domestic structure reform and the ability to pay their top emerging talent excellent relevant wages are paying dividends.

This was a brilliant fighting come back by India in,of all places Oz,and to top it off they played without some major players.
In reply to Verstehen
Damn
In reply to Chrissy
It was a gutsy, gutsy performance
If runners were allowed for injured players as was the case until relatively recently, India might have won...had to forgo many single runs and not able to convert ones to twos..
In reply to trev114
True
In reply to Chrissy
Ashwin gone too. We're literally playing a C attack.
In reply to Verstehen
And yet you're fighting back nicely here.
355/9

This is shaping up to be another very good day five. 123/3 lead 156.
Oops there goes Wade.123/4
Session one done -two to go
83/1
Day 5 - Session 1: India need 245
Shubman Gill 64* from 117
Cheteshwar Pujara 8 from 90
In reply to Chrissy
Pant or Agrawal next, the game is still open for both teams.
In reply to openning
8 from 90 is ridiculous. India had a good chance to win the last test, and Pant was clearly in that frame of mind. But even after he got out, they could still have gone for the runs.
Same negative approach here so far.
In reply to Da-Vincy
Pujara could had got the balls into gaps, and take singles.
From the start of the day, I felt 240 runs, 60 overs with 7-8 wickets in hand, is gettable.
The only problem is no restrictions in the field, so Gill will have to be smart, if India decides to chase.
In reply to openning
that was a great win.
Three things - all that four day cricket matters and so does the IPL lickit approach to batting.
India won this in the last test when they hung on for that draw.
Fabulous series coming from behind to win.
Congrats Verstehen
In reply to Chrissy
Cheers Prof. The greatest Indian series win in my lifetime. 36 ao in the first Test, no frontline pacer, only 2 guys from the first Test remaining in the last (Rahane and Puj). These are incredible stats.
In reply to Verstehen
You're right - this was one hell of a series win - with your 2ndXI to boot.
Tell Steve Smith to go scuff up the pitch - damn cheat.
In reply to Verstehen
I told my dad that either india was going to win or they were going to get hammered. Because there was a precedence. When Australia bowled out the WI for 51, the WI came back and won the next two and would have won the third if someone in addition to lara would have stood up. The Aussies are bullies, they hate pressure. And they crumble under it as seen from their behavior in the third test.
In reply to StumpCam
Behave yourself mate, stop trying to degrade a great victory. You are a voice in the wilderness stay right deh.
In reply to Khaga
Indeed. Pakistan has probably fielded some of the most talented teams to ever tour Australia......and they always lose. Not even when they had Wasim, Imran and Waqar
