Windward Islands Volcanoes coach and former regional fast bowler, Andrew Richardson, insists the West Indies must close the distance between themselves and top-class cricketing nations, in terms of talent development, if the team is ever to be truly competitive again.
World cricket powerhouses India recently earned plenty of plaudits for a stunning win over Australia, with a squad full of mostly inexperienced developing players.
“It’s a correlation that the boards that have the luxury of having more coaches employed, more facilities, more players on contracts, more A team tours, more money invested in development, are the countries that have been doing well,” Richardson told Grenada’s Talksports program.

Well I am on Record in this Forum stating similar suggestions for a very
long time .
What is needed is how much money the
WICBC/CWI collects from various sources , and how much is spent on making Our
Players competitive in International
Cricket .
The WICBC/CWI will never divulge that
It prefers to hide under the Fig Leaf
of being a Private Entity .
This is precisely why I would like the Regional Governments to donate Money
to the WICBC/CWI . Naturally when this happens , the General Public must have access regarding how much Taxpayers Money is spent by the WICBC/CWI on making Our Players competitive in International Cricket.
BTW , The WICBC/CWI has only one Cricket Ground in the Region . Playing 5 Test Matches in Antigua aint going to be profitable .

It has been my belief, and I still believe that the WICBC/CWI must
undergo very serious Structural Changes .
I have no problem with Governments in
the Region financially aiding the
WICBC/CWI . However , there MUST be
serious Strictures .
Among those Strictures must be a yearly audited Financial Statements ,
Audited by a Reputable Account Firm .
Obviously since the WICBC/CWI is getting the use of Government Stadia ,and also getting Taxpayers money ,
The General Public in the Region must
have access to the Annual Financial
Statements of the WICBC/CWI .
