I noticed a trends of using the British title "Sir" to refer to our legends including Richards, Ambrose, Sobers et all.
I hope people really understand the origins, history and leverage of this "title."
Our legends do not need Slave Master British Validation to establish our greatness.
I will be honest, two decades ago I argued that today's generation and others would have confined that title in our region to the dustbin of history.
But to hear continued usage (and then poster Dukes in here) Badree, Ganga et all use it during commentary or when these legends are in the commentary box is very very sad.

STOP SLAVE-MASTER TITLE TO REFER TO OUR STARS
In reply to Emir
I was thinking about that too.
Instead of referring to greats like Richards as King, we should use words more to our liking like Caliph, for instance.
Let we go Caliph Richards!

In reply to granite
My point is we dont the slave master validation to claim our greatness.
The title Sir is a validation by the slave master for the slave master and our people must have none of it.

Mental slaves
i prefer monsieur or senor they just roll off the tongue

I do like the title, Caliph, Emir.
Reminds me of reading about The Caliph and The Barker as an introduction to the Arab world.
To find a suitable word to replace ' Sir ' we might have to find a word from a non-European language.
Look Emir
You preaching to the wrong congregation
When the leaders such as Richards, Sobers, Roberts and Ambrose reject THEIR OWN titles, we can drop the Sir from we mowt.
In reply to Halliwell
if we reject it they will have more motivation to reject it

Im not sure I agree with that. Leadership in any movement is key.
The Sirs will always have a core of sycophants chanting their titles, and that may just be enough for them. Some loud folks behind strange monikers on a website, or irrelevant journalism like ReadersBooRow wont move the needle. Me thinks.

true

I know it but I wont give up trying.
It is shameful that Ambrose glee when they refer to him as Sir and last night Badree and Ganga decided to play with my blood pressure so they went over the top, using Sir at least 9 times when taking to Ambrose
In reply to Halliwell
Good observation
In reply to Emir
I agree with you it is embarrassing we need to stop it

All of them were knighted by their respective countries and these are National Awards not from the Queen. Clive Lloyd is the only one knighted by the Queen. If they have no problem accepting their country's awards what is your problem? You have the option to turn off the sound on your device.
