Look here Link Text

Dont know much about her besides she being a local youth athlete from T&T who got an athletic scholarship few years ago to a US college and since then she has improved well. She has rep Trinidad and Tobago at youth level in the past.

The Trini accent still there a lil bit Link Text

99.99% of who get track scholarships to the US still rep their native land even if they still live in the US. Plus it is hard to make the US team even if they are citizens. You aren't a real T&F fan or follower.

Seeing this is an athlete who rep T&T at junior level BEFORE going to University in the US then why you assume there was or is an interest to rep the US?

I may not be a track and field expert but I am not the one here who has an agenda live you smile

They profiled her on TV6 days before she booked her Olympics ticket. Very good athlete. Glad she's representing TTO for the love of the country instead of the numerous posers from the last two olympics who came here because they had no hope of making their hom country's olympic team. The Teema Robinson case still leaves a very bad taste.

She is one of the top collegiate athletes in America and her chance of making the America team is good. BUT she has voiced her intention to represent her home country and the country that raised her as a youth. She has already represented T&T at junior level so the transition to senior level is no surprise to me.

You misunderstand me, I'm saying there's nothing remarkable about her being on the radar.
All National sports and Olympic associations keep track on their athletes and if their
performances meet 'rankings' they are then invited to trials. If she wasn't on the
radar that then would be REMARKABLE. Hope she does well. You changing tune ah wha?

And Ato can switch like the flip of a switch. On NBC he is American
at home in TnT he is Trini and at champs in JA he suddenly adopts
the accent of his Mother's land of birth.

Which of his parents was Jamaican,I thought it was his father.

His mother is from Jamaica, His father is from Trinidad and father still lives Trini.

He(Ato) was born and raised in Trinidad (Santa Cruz to be specific) until he was 14 years old then moved to the US with his Mother

TriniStar 2021-05-17 15:11:40

Ato from Santa Cruz. He went to school at Fatima College.

Ah kno, always amused when he and Sanya Richards on NBC commentary.
We dun kno seh a kid who migrates in their teens could easily develop
the accent of the adopted country. But Sanya who was in same class
as one of my sons in prep school migrated at 13. Both slip back
into their Trini n Yardie accent when 'home'

No man, there is some story
that after he 'medaled' in either Olympics
or Worlds their was no Trini flags around
and they went to his Mom hoping she would
have one and she is claimed to have said
'I'm Jamaican!' My take-if you are there
to support your son then go all the way

Sanya is a yardie. archie mek sure a that. know her from st thomas aquinas high school days. the work for nbc so it is what it is. i still laugh at the commentary from the 4 x1 at the worlds that Sherika anchored.
