As an honorary Yardie in an Olympic Year...

culpepperboy 2021-07-15 14:06:50

...I will temper my expectations for the team.

6 golds
10 silvers
8 bronzes.

lol lol lol

The Yard should win gold in the female 100M and if we manage the baton should take the 4x100 as well.

I do not see us garnering more than those two. We should however get a number of minor medals which will still be better than what we were used to before 2008.

Whole Caribbean will struggle to get half that this time around. I am cautiously optimistic for a women's 200m gold outside chance of a clean sweep too in both women sprints. 3 GOLDS are an outside possibility from women's sprints.

I'm expecting another 10 medals from the rest of the Caribbean.

In reply to Brerzerk men long jump, the throws,110 hurdles, two women relays are all gold medal possibilities. This is in addition to women 100 and 200.

I see a total of 8 medals..2 gold,2 silver and 4 bronze..7 of those will be by women and a field event silver or bronze by a male.
However I like your optimistic view..Sounds like a true not honorable Yardie.

big grin

JAH JAH you folks have absolutely no clue what is happening.

This is by farrrr the best Olympic team Jamaica has ever assembled.

Yes even better than the Bolt yeats.

Jamstar 2021-07-17 06:05:57

First of Tajay the reigning world champion is the best long jumper in the world and it ain't even close, yet you folks have him for maybe a Bronze rolleyes rolleyes

Dude had a 8.80 jump at trials that was barely fouled by a couple centimetre and eventually won with a 8.57 w jump.

When Stephen unleashes him at the Olypimic none will be close.

Ronald Levy is ranked number 4 in the world and with Omar McLeod out of the Olympics is ranked number 3 in the world.

He is in the shape of his life and will run sub 13 at the Olypimics, 3 dudes ain't beating him.

In the women's Triple jump miss Ricketts has proven time and again she is the 2nd best triple jumper in the world, btw Kimberly Williams ain't too far forgetting on that podium either she is right in there when it comes to bronze medal as right now the field is Rojas, Ricketts and everybody else.

Then we get to the women's 400 with Stephanie Ann McPherson who is cleaning up the circuit and is getting ready to run sub 49.5, with the Namibian's out and Felix past her best Steph is a firm favourite for a medal the colour of which will depend on Mrs Ubio.

Add the fact that Shelly, Elaine and Shericka are all at or near pb shape in the 100 while their main competition ie Dina Asher-Smith and Talou are either injured or coming bavk from injury and I can't see anything but a sweep in the 100.

Fact is Shelly, Elaine and Shericka have gone places that neither one of them have gone, ie 10.7.

The 200 is the same, all 3 girls in or near PB shape while the main competition ie Asher-Smith Gabby Thomas and Miller-Ubio are either injured or coming back from injury.

Harder to call a sweep here but 2 out of 3 is a real possibility.

We should also pick up at least 3 relay medals ( notice I said at least)

If we get less than 12 medals the team has under performed.

Well, we got 12 medals at the 2019 World Champs, so it's possible.

With all due respect Bolt and Ato are not honorary Yardies in an Olympic year.

Wasn't aware that Gabby Thomas and Miller-Ubio were injured or recovering from injury..

I think Gabby is a huge threat to the Caribbean winning and possibly sweeping in the 200m..

nitro 2021-07-18 14:00:27

In reply to hotarobin

A fit Gabby will win the 200M easily. Jamaica may even struggle to get a medal with Asher-Smith and Miller-Ubio in the race.
