my former mechanic's dad is in his 70's grew up in Tennessee. Said he had to pick 100lbs of COTTON/DAY before or after school. His parents were so desperate to keep them on the sharecropping land that he'd be spanked if he failed to pick 100lbs. Watch the docu on Peacock about John Carlos and Tommie Smith's black power salute at '68 olympics and you'll hear that one of them as a kid used to pick cotton right in Lemore Ca.

Will take a look at the peacock doc. --- the voting laws that are being cooked-up is just a modern day version of Jim Crow laws .
