Former Guyana and West Indies cricketer Ramnaresh Sarwan and his family on Friday commissioned their multi-million dollar Amazonian Mall at Providence, promising both recreational and economic opportunities to residents of the East Bank and West Demerara, even as he encouraged young athletes to think about investments to secure their future.

“Building a mall was seen as a good opportunity to serve the people of East Bank and West Demerara,” Sarwan told Stabroek News following the ribbon cutting. He noted that his investment, the size of which remains undisclosed, was about securing a future for him and his family at the end of his cricket career.

With convenient parking and access to a wide variety of services, the Amazonia Mall is perfectly positioned to become the go-to location for all of one’s needs and desires.

The mall itself boasts over 20 franchises, both international and local brands ranging from fast food outlets, hardware stores, salons, and restaurants including Sarwan’s very own RS53 Resto Bar.
It will also include a doctor’s office as well as a Caribbean Cinemas which will feature six different screens. The establishment has created employment for over 300 persons.

In his feature address, President Dr Irfaan Ali lauded the former cricketer on his successful business venture, assuring that his Government is moving in a direction that will add value to Amazonia Mall and other businesses along the East Bank corridor.
