Admittedly I do not follow track.
But it was sad after enjoying Asafa, Yohan and of course Usain beat up on the mighty US programme only to not see a single Jamaican in the 100M final.
Life without Bolt real boring.
But is this a sign of things to come? When this group of females retire are there any exciting prospects to replace them?

Is Jamaican track dominance ending?
In reply to nick2020
End of an era definitely just like past WI dominance...the world is a cycle..
In reply to nick2020
Bro, the Jamaicans just swept the Womens" 100M. Perhaps you should narrow down your thread.
But the evidence of dominance is steering us in the face. And I know you are not misogynistic so you must be trolling.
In reply to nick2020
One of the answers to the above.
And watch this space to see what Glen Mills can do with the 20 year old Oblique Seville, who won 100m at CARIFTA 2 years ago. He made the semis here.
We shall see...
In reply to nick2020 we have been through this before, prior to Asafa we did not have a credible 100 meters men competitor for a long period.
In reply to JahJah
why u bother? nick2020 was the first one to say that only the gleaner was "spreading" that shacarri had a violation.
In reply to rudebway
he's a rabble rouser?
In reply to nick2020
Jamaica was only dominant in the sprints.
They have won one of the two sprints so far and could possible win one of the other two to come.
In reply to nitro
*only*
Do you realise it's a tiny forking country??
You Americans I tell you.
lol

to answer you question from the other thread earlier, Seville is probably the best bet to progress to the next level. He didnt get overworked at champs like many others. at champs you would see Chris taylor run the 200 at at 2pm, the the 400 later (maybe 4pm or so). he then runs the 2nd leg of the 4 * 100 and closes champs by anchoring the 4 * 400.
Seville sat out a year after calabar bought him, and there was covid last year. the sad part is that i remember champs from maybe 2012 or 2013 when the 100 had Zarnell Hughes and Javon Minzie. Michael Ohara from Cbar picked the semi to spoil the 3 the hard way clash...Hughes has progressed while ours have fallen by the wayside
In reply to JahJah
Is Jamaica dominant outside of the sprints?
In reply to rudebway
Hughes is the guy that ran for Munro College?
In reply to nitro
no, he ran for that school in purple and white on north street. the name of the school slips me.
if you are thinking Munro, then that was Delano Williams
In reply to nitro
Kenya is dominant in distance running, countries have niches.
In reply to rudebway
Yeah, what became of that dude?
In reply to nitro
still runs... just didnt make it to the next level
In reply to camos
Agreed. So they are ONLY dominant in long distance.
The thing is Jamaica was not dominant until 2004 with VCB although Jamaican born male athletes won before with Donovan Bailey, Linford Christie and Ben Johnson.
In reply to nitro new effort was made after 2000!
In reply to nitro
Yes, but you say ONLY as if what Jamaica did wasn't a big deal.
It is a TINY forking island where not every single soul does T&F! It punched above its weight.
geeez.
In reply to Courtesy
This is why I posed past this cycle.
SAFP is not young.
Elaine is going to be 32 when the next Olympics rolls around.
I admitted I do not follow track so I won't know who the next ups are.
Well unless they are American. Their hype machine already calling that 18 year old the next Bolt. I think he got a bronze. Used to play football.
In reply to JahJah
I merely asked if the gleaner was the first. Rudy read too much into it.
I won't remember the names you tell me here so I will gladly listen to you tell me you told me so in the future.
In reply to nick2020
I get it now. You asked the question to solicit some form of elucidation. My bad.
In reply to nick2020
And Shericka will be 30 and Briana 22. Someone else may emerge in that time.
In reply to JahJah
the women pipeline is good. Brianna will have to decide real quick if Ato can get her to 10.85. Sherika will be a boss next WC and Olympics
the pipeline has Kevona Davis (now at texas) Ashanti Moore (went to hydel), Akera Nugent, Kemba Nelson. Hopefully at least one of them becomes elite
the men...now thats a different story
In reply to rudebway
I was gonna say that about Brianna-Ato, but I didn't want to come across a certain way.
She's in the USA, and perhaps staying put, so I imagine there will be no Franno magic for her.
Remember the Clayton sisters are Coming
Watching champs for the last three years, I notice that the boys time were getting slower and slower. The pundits merely gloss over it and seem to ignore or afraid to discuss it at length during their broadcast.
Some self denial going on. There is a lot more promise for the girls
Nitro while JA has not dominated in fields n hurdles events it has done very well. Winthrop Graham, Deon Hemmings, Russell, long jumpers, throwers. I'll bet that as a% of population we have more n more quality all-round T&F medals than the vast majority of countries. Cycles yes. Between 1944-1952 JA had 4 of the fastest 400m runners many times the top 3 all at once. Plus 100, 200 n 800m champions. 1968bOlympics 4×100m team broke the WRwhich the US then shattered in the finals Jamaica being out through injuries. Don't forget DQ n Lennox Miller...another cycle will come, how disciplined those lads will be and how much workload schools give themis another matter
In reply to JahJah
When we totally agree on something it must be incontrovertibly true!!!!
In reply to Brerzerk
Yes, we have done well overall but Nick T20 was referring to their dominance.
In reply to rudebway
I hope none of those you mentioned were champions or stars in Class 3 at Champs.
Speak about dominance ending, what has happened to American Sprinting? Yes Coleman was looking great but he is obviously juicing. USA has not won the 100M in both male and female sprinting at the Olympics for TWO freekin decades.
There was a guy who used to post here stating that the American boys are turning to the more lucrative NFL but what has happened to the females?
In reply to nitro
And Jamaican boys concentrating on football (you call it sawker)...?
Bollocks! It was a weak excuse by that poster.
In reply to Dukes
Then we must agree on quite a lot.

In reply to jahmekyahwell - even the great Roman Empire crumbled - guess everything has a shelf life, except white supremacy
