Obadele “Oba” Thompson (born 30 March 1976) is a Barbados-born former sprinter, lawyer, author, and speaker. He won Barbados’ first and only Olympic medal as an independent country by placing third in the 100 metres at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He is a three-time Olympian (1996, 2000, and 2004), and a finalist at each Olympics.

He is married to Marion Jones-Thompson, is a Belizean-American former world champion track and field athlete and a former professional basketball player for Tulsa Shock in the WNBA. She won three gold medals and two bronze medals at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, but was later stripped of her medals after admitting to steroid use.[2][3] Jones did retain her 3 titles as world champion from 1997 to 1999. They have 3 children.

I know Brother Oba we attended University of Texas El Paso together and even attended the same church at the time, he is a real humble person and tremendous sprinter.

Dais why he does sound like a fresh warer bajan so. Always liked his commentary. Very analytical and knowledgeable. Respect him also for running against a bunch of dopers day in day out and still performing creditably. Ato and him really flew the flag high for the Caribbean until 2003/2004

Oba's greatest challenge in my opinion was his lack of belief in himself..I truly believe that he was too humble and never realized his full potential..Oba, I believe, was mentioned by Michael Johnson or Frankie Fredericks as the next phenom but it never quite materialized..

Super guy though..and his sister was also very quick..

They were married before Marion's admission in the doping scandal..

I must admit, it’s “new” news to me, since we are in Olympics mode, the topic was recently discussed among my family members.

I thought that Marion Jones was originally married to an American weightlifter who represented America until he got caught with using proformance enhancements.

Yes that is true, and I think that incident sparked allegations on whether she was also doping.

Cool. I was at HC in Oba's last year and chatted with him briefly on his Bermuda connection. Happy that he's had the success he did.

Roughest moment I saw for him on the track was at Interschool when he was put on the 4x400 team and he set off at a hard pace but the Lodge fella reeled him in. I think it was the first time HC had been dethroned as boys' champions in some time.

she was married twice before oba....first to a doping weightlifter, then to a doping sprinter who broke the world record in the 100m, Tim montgomery and then she married Oba, first decent man she went after

her first husband was TJ Hunter a track coach and shot putter. i dont think she married Tim Montgomery even though she had a son Tim Jr with him. and how do you know that OBA is decent or she went after Oba instead of the opposite way around? she was / is an attractive woman.

uhh....because her first two dudes were dopers(as was she) and Oba has never tested positive even though he knew every time he stepped on the track he was racing against a chemical barrier. Must say something about his moral character.

She was alright.....except for that rider tooth. Now Christine Aaron, that was an attractive woman. Marion was pretty but she had a posture like a dude. probably was the steroids

She did play college basketball and later briefly did some WNBA, wonder if that sport (or being a star athlete in general) affects posture in women?
