West Indies head coach Phil Simmons has backed mercurial talent Shimron Hetmyer to eventually find his way back into the Test team after an extended absence.

In addition, the athlete has also had his share fair of fitness issues over the past two years, twice failing fitness standards after being included in touring squads.  Simmons has, however, backed the batsman to eventually get things right.

“I think that Hetmyer can be a world-class Test player when that time comes,” Simmons told members of the media.

“I’m sure at some point he’s going to return to the Test squad.  I’m sure the experience he’s gotten from being there before will serve him well and that he will make use of it."

We are very hopeful for Hety with such tremendous talent, he needs proper coaching and management.

Encourage the Guyanese player!!

I like what have seen of Hety since he came back into the WI setup. I have been one of his toughest critics.

If all remains on the current trajectory we will see a world class cricketer.

It certainly was not in relation to Jason Mo. No one ever thought that he was going to be any sort of batsman, but some did opine that he could bowl a little!

The headline states that Hetmeyer is ‘maturing’ and thus will eventually become a ‘world class’ test batsman. This reasons that he has not yet ‘matured’ and therefore has not become a ‘world class’ test batsman. It could also be interpreted that he is immature and therefore not yet a ‘world class’ test batsman. My question; which player on the current team has ‘matured’ and is a world class test batsman?
