ST JOHN’S, Antigua – The Cricket West Indies (CWI) Selection Panel today announced the West Indies squad for the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Men’s T20 World Cup, 2021. The panel named fifteen (15) players and four (4) travelling reserves for the marquee event which will be played in the United Arab Emirates and Oman from October 17 to November 14, 2021.

West Indies are the defending world champions and only two-time winners of the ICC T20 World Cup, winning in 2012 against Sri Lanka at the Premadasa in Colombo then four years later in 2016 against England in Kolkata.  The West Indies now have the opportunity to create further history by becoming the first team to win a hat-trick of ICC T20 World Cup victories.

Experienced bowler Ravi Rampaul, a member of the 2012 winning World Cup squad, has been recalled for the first time since 2015. All-rounder Roston Chase is called up to the West Indies T20I squad for the first time.

In contrary to former Selector Browne, it seems like Selector Harper does not favor his country men, justification could be made that Shepherd or Rutherford should be on the team.

a former chairman of selector from the mudland was constantly accused of not favoring his countrymen too, even when they deserved a look in big grin

Mudland internal CRICKET politics playing out with these young players

Harper having some sort of revenge on them...maybe for soemthing said and done tO him IN RECENT YEARS....by these players or their 'agents'

What a nasty shame

ROGER HARPER IS A BIG SKUNT

Hayden Walsh Jr was selected after playing only 4 of 8 games for the last place Royals. He did not take a single wicket in this CPL...Hmm! This team was picked way before this announcement...Roger is confirming what we all think...Akeal should be way ahead of him...

The only change I see from a side that was picked BEFORE this CPL was Chase
You are on to something there

The team should be selected on form, not reputation.

Gayle may had a medical exemption, but this team is base on friendly pick, uptodate performance only matter for a few.
I call Pollard and company, the brotherhood, they are getting the last laugh, after the way they were treated , by the biggest idiot.

Well please to justify Ravi Rampaul, Oshane Thomas over Jason Holder.

Rutherford should have been at least in the reserves, the man raised his hands, I hope that he doesnt become a batting version of a certain Santokie, who performed well but was somehow unable to make the squads.

West Indian cricket fans like arguing and complaining better than anything else lol

I thought it was obvious that the bulk of the WI team would have been those who played in the international series; CPL performances unlikely to cause major shifts. As it was, Chase and Rampaul earned their way in while Edwards, Cotterel, and more surprisingly Holder, fell out.
