HEADLINE: Barbados Royals eliminated from semi-final contention

A superb bowling spell from David Wiese helped Saint Lucia Kings gain their fifth win of the 2021 Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and end any chance of the Barbados Royals qualifying for the semi-finals in the process.

The Royals won the toss and captain Jason Holder chose to field first, which looked like a good decision as the Kings lost two wickets in the Powerplay to the superb Mohammad Amir. However, Saint Lucia Kings captain Faf du Plessis once again produced a masterful performance, scoring 84 runs to take his side to a commanding 175/6.

Despite a strong start in reply, the Royals were sent into disarray in the ninth over as Wiese took three wickets, Johnson Charles, Shai Hope and Glenn Phillips all fell within five balls. Despite a late fightback from Holder and Hayden Walsh, it was not enough and the side finished on 154/8.

Jason Holder had an okay game but again not enough to prove the selectors wrong for not selecting him in the final t20 fifteen. I heard so many people referring to JH as the best all-rounder in the world but they fail to realize that this is T20 and JH is not even ranked in the ICC top 20. Even Lockhart Sebastian and Andrew Mason U heard pushing that nonsense last Thursday on a radio program hosted by Sebastienhttps://www.icc-cricket.com/rankings/mens/player-rankings/t20i/all-rounder

Now that you mentioned Sebastien, I'm wondering is he the best player from the WI not to have represented tbe WI?

Strong team, very poor captain, Royals can keep same team and change the skipper. This team can compete for a title. The owners didn't look to please in the stands, next season will be a serious shakeup. Nurse and a few others need to be put to rest.

Maybe, though his average of 32.83 and only 5 centuries in 92 FC games is nothing to shout about. But I would much rather pay to watch the late Andrew Light, who ave 32.00 and 6 Centuries in his 38 FC games.
