Common sense dictates that a Medical Exemption is given in a cricket situation when a player has an illness or injury that prevents him from being fully fit.It is particularly important when one is considering whether a player is paid, while being out of cricket.Depending on the malady, that medical exemption should be for a specified time.If you have a chronic knee injury or chronic back injury then that exemption could be for the period of the contracted period if that is less than a year or for a full year or some such permutation that the doctor feels should be the length of the disability.
A medical exemption should not and logically can not be used to be exempt from a fitness test but allow you to play.If you are exempt from a fitness test then you should be exempt from playing.
If you are not fit enough to do a fitness test then you are not fit enough to play.

Question 1 for Dr. Mansingh
Is revealing who the players with Medical exemptions are, a breach of Medical Confidentiality?
In reply to Dukes

It seems cowardly when you make what I interpret to be a snide remark. If you disagree with me please say so and give your reasons. That is the only way we can have an honest debate.
In reply to Dukes
What makes you think these people want a debate, and not just an opportunity to indulge shamelessly in idolizing their compatriots?
In reply to Dukes
Too much logic coming from you sir. Back off!

Ok so Gayle and Rampaul got medical exemptions. Meanwhile, Odean Smith (who is the only bowler to clock over 150k during this CPL) failed his fitness test. I say give Smith a medical exemption too!!!
I saw a characterization of the WC squad as "friends and family." The more I think of it the more I agree.
Looking on the bright side in terms of T 20 cricket. You need good fast bowlers who can hit lots of sixes. We have Shepherd,McCoy,Smith,Drakes and hopefully Keemo Paul who are 26,24,24,23 and 23 respectively.Once Keemo can get his mojo back in his bowling which should be in 12 -18 months I think our T 20 future is not too bad.
