Hosein takes his place and Motie added to the reserve.

West Indies’ ICC Men’s T20 World Cup ambitions have suffered a blow, with star all-rounder Fabian Allen ruled out of the tournament. Allen has been withdrawn from the squad due to an ankle injury and been replaced in the 15 by Akeal Hosein, following approval from the Event Technical Committe.

QUESTION

Did Fabian Allen have this injury before he was selected for this tournament?

If not, when and where did he get this injury?

hotarobin 2021-10-20 11:25:01

That totally sucks for this otherwise weak team..Allen was a breath of fresh air and hope with his fielding..

He played couple matches in the IPL so I'm guessing that's where he picked up the injury.

Big blow for WI though.. will definitely be missed, especially in the field.

Big loss for the team. Does that mean Hosein is an immediate starter or does Allen's starting spot go to another pacer? Does Gayle become an option to throw some slower stuff for an over of two?

Tough one for Allen. Sorry, he misses out.
The team was quite formidable with him in there. Gonna be a different lineup with Hossein coming in but still, we gonna rally.

I understand adding Hosein as a like for like spinning option, but Allen also provided valuable lower order hitting. I think Romario Shepherd would have been a more suitable replacement given that Chase the other off spinner is in the side. But, I guess Shepherd was not an alternate.

smh.. I happen to think that any team West Indies puts together is a relatively weak team because no one seems to be stepping up at this point in time..so I guess that I am insular against the region.. confused confused

Hosein is a good replacement for Allen, he can bat also.

Once a Trini name is called they come out....

Fuzzy will be by soon.

Big blow for WI. Could he have been injured in practice? Happens!
Even though we need the "slow bowling" he should've been replaced in THE XV by one of the all rounders capable of using the long handle, SHEPHERD, HOLDERor The other Talented Guyanese Allrounder

Halliwell 2021-10-20 13:45:07

Damn! He was an XFactor player sad

Jabari18 2021-10-20 14:18:25

Real tough for Fabian and us. I was looking out for a breakout performance from him. I hope Hosein grabs this opportunity

Great response. How sad that a day hardly goes by without INSULAR rearing its ugly head....

Really sorry to hear this. Spare a thought for Allen about missing out in a World Cup. He definitely could have been our X Factor along with Bravo and Chase. Good luck to Hosein. Do the region proud!!

Motie handy with the bat???? Where do they get information from??

if the breeze rises in intensity Allen,Ros and Lewis goes too bad because they are the best we have

Narper 2021-10-20 17:56:59

A real disappointment this injury to Allen.

Akeal Hosein is a worthy replacement
